Joe/Newinn, you guys are the best It's sad that 88% of me does believe it. And I'm 100% certain that every owner, executive and player encouraged it and didn't think they were doing anything wrong. I'm fed up with the whole thing. The idolization of players will certainly not be part of my kids' life. Sort of sad but... Whatever, I'm old and jaded. The old magic is gone. Nothing gold can stay.
I think kids will still "idolize" their fav players, but maybe they can't to the extent we did as kids Loon. If they watch the game, its sort of happens naturally. Whats sad, is when these guys make mistakes in life. Theyre human like us so its inevitable to a degree but, the things they get caught at (PEDs, gambling etc) are ones that inidcate what kind of character they have. With todays media they way it is, it winds up on the front pages, lead news story on TV and the kids admiration of that ballplayer gets tarnished, and as young fans, they get their heart broken (sort of like us OLDER dudes do NOW when this crap hits the fan) It IS sad.
