What do you think of the shoot out?

To me it takes away from the rarity of the penalty shot but it started to grow on me when the Rangers went 15 rounds years back. I have to admit I was on the edge of my seat until Malik found the back of the net as the 30th shooter.

The other rule changes turned out OK. Omitting the two line pass rule and decreasing the area behind the net has worked out. The trapezoid rule was aimed squarely at Marty because of his prowess with the puck. That is one area where Lundqvist needs to step it up. I cringe whenever he handles the puck with the opposition in the zone.

I also agree with the headhunting rule changes. I do miss the crease rule. The goalie deserves an empty crease.

I have no problem with it for the regular season because OT's might last too long and no one wants to go to a game for hours and leave with just seeing a tie game.

Good points about the 2 line pass. The Devils were great at the trap and you don't hear that term anymore.

I always thought Bettman wanted more scoring to attract a larger audience so he instituted all these new rules.

I wasn't a fan of the trap so I like the 2 line pass. I couldn't care less about the other rule changes. Hey! I miss the days of the bench clearing brawls.

It didn't make me happy! Still, it was a great game.

The Isles are playing their best hockey in 20 years even though the standings don't show it.

The problem is that for the most part the way they played over the last 20 years set the bar pretty low. lol! Trading Turgeon set them back bigtime. That, plus Milbury's dumb trades.

Milbury=lousey GM. Terrible.

Joe, he set them back between 5 - 10 years. If the play another stinker against the Sens like they did yesterday against the Flyers it means that they are not ready and it's time to look ahead fro the NHL Draft.

He was/is the worst GM in Isles history. Bill Torrey he ain't eh Max?  lol I hated Mills when he played for the Bruins.

Torrey, wasn't he the GM during the Islanders glory days? Four 8 oz. goblets in a row. Smith, Trottier and Bossy...what a team.

Millbury sucked as a coach, GM and commentator. Why the hockey world embraces this guy is beyond me.

Mils always reminded me of a punk when he was on the Bruins. I remember when the Bruins went into the stands at MSG. As a Ranger fan friend of mine said at the time. "Let's see the Bruins try that with the fans that sit in the blue seats".

Yes he was....maybe the second best GM ever iin this area, after Lou Lam...I'm sure Id get an argument on that but, Lou's beeen around a long time, and so have the Devils as legit contenders.
