Say what you want but the only thing I will miss about Cano leaving is his smile. What a smile he had, great for baseball and great for the fans. I wish him all the best.

When I think of his smile I think of chicklets candy. But that's as far as it goes.

Cano is not a game changing player.

Cano does not carry a team.

His uniqueness was having some power, average, glove at 2nd base. His numbers have already been more than replaced with the signings of McCann (power) and Ellsbury (power, average). We are not done, not by any means.

Cano never won an MVP. No batting title. No RBI title, etc. Zip. The sheer frustration watching him turn a double into single or loafing to 1st on a ground out, can't say I will miss that.

I love the direction we are going in, just need to free ourselves from A-Roid.

Let's not try and wash away the fact we are losing a big bat and great defense.
Having said that though, look at what's happened to the ten year deals with A-Rod and Pujols.
Nothing good was going to come out of signing that deal with Cano.
At least with Pujols and A-Rod you can say they tried but father time wouldn't let them.
Robbie never bothered to hustle,it was only going to go downhill from there.
I'm grateful for all he's done but NOTHING good was going to come out of that deal.

And to add to all of that... sure he's a well known ballplayer but he is not a draw on his own. He's not a big name that can singlehandedly put butts in seats at the ballpark and who can draw enough revenue in ticket sales and merch for a team to make back his contract value, so it makes sense to overpay guys like that.  There are a few players with the star power to do that. Derek Jeter is one of them. Robbie isn't.

Which is why 10/240 from the M's is bizarre....

Let's put it this way. The majority of people in my company today had no idea who cano was this morning.  My company is in south western Connecticut!!!!

Hehe—love your sense of humour.

In all seriousness, while Cano had his moments (and I remember when fans hated him when he started out making all kinds of errors and loved him when he later on achieved grand slams and became the hitter they thought he'd be), I'll likely miss saying (after his home runs), "Robbie Cano Dontcha Know!"

I do hope the Yankees learn a little something from this, if they ever have a young player with the talent of Mr. Cano I hope they are smart enough to lock him up long term before he gets to this position in his career.. It would have saved them some money and the player as well..
