Keep this thread here. It involves the Yankees, so I can't see why it can't stay here and be pinned so it's always at the top of the board for all to see. I definitely enjoy following the progress of the young kids of the Yankees.
Tyler Austin had a homer, double, and single, Chase Whitely made his 2015 debut tossing 5 shutout innings as the Railriders downed the Syracuse Chiefs 3-1 to split their series, and even SWB's record at 2-2.
Whitley spread out 4 hits including a leadoff double in the 5th which proved to be the only threat Syracuse could mount against him. He also allowed 2 walks and recored 5 strikeouts. A number of those K's came on good changeups. Whitley picked up the win (1-0).
Lefty reliever Tyler Webb came on to pitch 2.2 scoreless innings. He gave up a single to the first batter he faced in the 6th inning that was the only hit against him. In the 7th he allowed a leadoff walk. A flyball to rightfield landed for an error when Rob Resndyer and Ramon Flores collided. It was clearly Flores' play. Refsnyder was charged with his 3rd error in the last 3 days. The Chiefs picked up their lone run in the 9th off righty reliever Nick Rumbelow on a solo homer by Caleb Ramsey to make the final score 3-1.
Tyler Austin got the Railriders on the scoreboard with his solo homer in the 2nd inning to give them an early 1-0 lead. They mounted a threat in the 5th inning when Jonathan Galvez singled, and Ben Gamel walked, but Ramon Flores popped out to end the inning. In the 6th, Rob Refsnyder reached 1st on an error. He tagged up on a deep flyout by Kyle Roller. Austin followed with a hard infield single behind 2nd base, and Austin Romine picked up his 1st hit of the year, a 2 rbi double, that gave SWB a 3-0 lead. Ben Gamel tripled to lead off the 7th but was stranded.

Sounds like a solid effort by SWB. Were you there?

Yeah, I went up again. Really good pitching effort. Not a whole lot of offense. Their starter was very good too.
