Yo man, I couldn't look here for months. I'm still in utter disbelief and mourning the loss to TB.

They had it within their grasp and let it slip away. Too many of them were playing with injuries and I didn't realize how bad Zuccs concussion was.

What up quiz, I hear ya pal. It  took me a long time also to get over losing to Tampa. I mean I love my Yankees and he NY Giants Big Blue in football, but I need hockey, it will always be on the top of my list in sports.

I am looking forward to this year, just like all the rest, but as much as I liked Hags, I think that trade could be a pretty good one. Hags I  think has reached his potential as far as a scorer, and the more I read and see about this kid Etem Emmerson, the more I can't wait to see him play. I looked at some videos you may like quiz, and I say what's not to like about this kid. Here is something we all have said has been missing on the Rangers. Steph is signed and all the core players are locked up.

And he has speed, ask the Lightning.

Hello TonyG4.

Yeah, football and baseball don't hold my interest like hockey anymore. Too slow and too many commercials.

I hate sounding like a broken record but last season the Rangers had the most points and were 3rd in the league in GF/GA. WTF, the Cup was theirs. I think they are the only team to make the PO's the last 4 years in a row.

At least we saw one in our lifetime.

I too liked Hagelin. I think he might have been the fastest skater in the league. I'll also miss Talbot. Any idea why the Rangers let them go? Money?

If Etem can put up some points I'll be happy. He looked good in that vid fooling the D and having someone who can dance on the ice like Domi or cause opponents to unravel like Avery is good for the team.

Check out these rule changes. 3 on 3 during OT now.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015%E2%80%9316_NH...

Rule changes

Rule changes approved by the NHL Board of Governors on June 24, 2015, include:[3]

  • 3-on-3 overtime: Overtime during the regular season will now have three skaters per side, instead of the 4-on-4 overtime system that had been used since 1999-2000.[4] However, if there are carry-over penalties from the third period to overtime, a side is still guaranteed to have at least three skaters and the man-advantage will be adjusted accordingly (e.g. a 5-on-4 power play at the end of regulation will be converted to a 4-on-3 one at the start of overtime).[3] The Board of Governors implemented 3-on-3 overtime to help decrease shootouts.[4]
  • Expanded video review with coach's challenge: Video review has been expanded to include a coach's challenge, similar to the system used by the NFL since 1999:[3]
    • Like the NFL, each challenge will require the use of a team's timeout. If the challenge is successful, the timeout is restored.
    • Teams may only challenge the following situations:
      • Whether a goal called on the ice should have been disallowed because the attacking team was offside or interfered with the goaltender;
      • Whether a disallowed goal, called on grounds of goalkeeper interference, should instead be overturned because either:
        • there was no actual contact between the attacking player and the goalie
        • the attacking player was actually pushed or fouled by a defender into the goalie
        • the attacking player's position in the crease did not actually impair or impact the goalie's play
    • Inside the final minute of regulation, and during overtime, all reviews that would otherwise be subject to the coach's challenge will instead be initiated by the NHL's Situation Room in Toronto
    • All reviews involving whether the puck entered the net will still be initiated by the Situation Room.[3]
  • New faceoff rule: During faceoffs not at center-ice, the player who is on the defensive side of the red line will now be required to put his stick down first.[3] For faceoffs at the center-ice dot, the visiting player will still be the first one to place down his stick. This rule change, giving the attacking team a slightly better advantage during most faceoffs (as oppose to giving this advantage to the home team all the time), is intended to help increase puck-possession time and potentially more goals.[5]

Yes Stripes and quiz, won't be long now. Thanks for jumping in and talking some Ranger Hockey. I needed this.

quiz to answer your question about Talbot, they had no choice. Lundqvist signed a new long term contract and he is still our number 1 and one of the tops in the NHL. There is no way Talbot wants to stay as a back up. He was still under contract for one more year, and after that he is a unrestricted free agent. And we would not be able to keep him as a back up. And if we held on to him thinking maybe we could trade him during the season when some  one is looking for a number 1, what happens if he gets hurt. So trade him now, get something for him and wish him luck. We got 3 draft picks for  him, and that's pretty good. His value wasn't as big as people predicted, and that was proven in the draft when no one was looking to get him and give the Rangers their draft pick.

As far as the rule changes with this 3 on 3, as you know I am old school hockey and have always said hockey is a team sport and games should be won and lost by teams, not individuals. I was always in favor of the good old days during orig 6 where there were no shoot outs. If I had my way, they would play a full 20 min sudden death OT, and if it was still a tie, both teams would get a point, but if someone scored that team gets 2 points and the other gets nothing. Why should a team that loses a game get rewarded with anything. It's all or nothing at all.

I don't know much about Raanta. I think he was a 'Hawk. I hope he can fill Talbot's skates.

I do know that the pre-season doesn't mean much but I can't wait! 4 days until the Rangers see the Horned Ones.

LGR!
