I'm thrilled too. Now let's take a look at Ellbury's and Sabathia's #'s with their annual pay. It won't be any better than Cano.

Ellsbury really gets a pass from Yankee fans...It is hindsight, but Granderson has delivered a lot more value.

Certain he is getting all the "respect" he deserves out in the Pacific NW.

If the Mariners were willing to split the difference on the $$$, I'd move Ellsbury for Cano in a "NY" minute !

I recall making the same argument. Ellsbury got a lot of "ESPN" credit handed to him, but outside of the magic year of 2011 he has not been all that good. And like all speed guys...his best years are behind him at age 32.

Gardner and Ellsbury can both carry the team for a while or completely disappear.  They really are equals.

If you take out the suspicious power year he still had good years when healthy. I thought it was a good signing because I thought he was a better hitter then he has shown. Thought he would be a 15 HR guy playing in Yankee Stadium. Very disappointed in his play. He doesn't even steal bases anymore. He's no impact player.

Ellsbury outside of 2011 was never an impact player. never played enough to be one,  there's a reason Boston willingly let him go
