With the way Hank and Hal have become so cheap, this year $5 million was a lot of money.

Celebrating one less albatross contract on a team loaded with them; REAL cause for a celebration.

Two things about "jake"-he strikes out too much and he doesn't get on base enough.

My opinion remains the same. The Yankees haven't been the same since Cano left. I don't blame him for signing that contract, and I don't blame the Yankees for not offering him that amount of money.

you're assuming Cano wouldn't be destroying YS, like he did his whole career here too... Yes not signing him to 10 years was smart though

No doubt his numbers would be better in the stadium in this lineup. But yeah the price was totally nuts, great time to walk away despite having Frew at 2B.

I don't care who it is, but one player does not make an entire team ... Cano has been stinking it up ... most likely would have done the same thing once he got big money from the Yankees ... he was lazy before the contract ... he's lazier now that he has his payday assured.

I'm thrilled too. Now let's take a look at Ellbury's and Sabathia's #'s with their annual pay. It won't be any better than Cano.

Ellsbury really gets a pass from Yankee fans...It is hindsight, but Granderson has delivered a lot more value.

I'm disappointed that we aren't getting everything that they paid for out of Ellisbury (.290+ AVG 40+ SB's and 90+ Runs are missing). He does play good defense but in the end he's just not worth $21 million. It's too bad Heathcott can't stay healthy. He would have produced about the same for 1/50th the price.

Severino and Betances for Cano and a journeyman middle reliever...  Plus extend Cano 5 years....  Do it Hank!
