I was just having a look at Cano's season for the first time in a while. What does $240 Million get you?

.277 AVG (would be 2nd worst of his career if the season ended today)
.324 OBP (would be worst since his rookie year)
.423 SLG (would be worst of his career)
.747 OPS (would be 2nd worst of his career)
95 K's (next strikeout will be a career high)
62 RBI (ties his career worst for now but will improve a bit)

You get all this with above average defense. Right now he's a 2.4 WAR, his 3rd worst through his career. Doesn't that work out well 2.4 WAR and $240 Million. Those are a few of the most expensive wins in baseball!

Cashman takes alot of grief but not signing this guy was the best non sign ever. As much as I can't stand Drew, I would really hate Cano for that kind of money. I just hope that they can find a better solution at 2B for next season.

I think if Cano was still a Yankee he would have better numbers, but I'm still glad the Yankees didn't sign him for that kind of contract. I just hope that the Yankees upgrade second base in the off season and they get rid of drew and Ryan

Thank goodness the Yankees didn't sign him.

I'm thrilled too.  Now let's take a look at Ellbury's and Sabathia's #'s with their annual pay.  It won't be any better than Cano.

According to Fangraphs Cano has the worst range of any second baseman in baseball in 2015 with a -10.3.  Fangraphs rated Cano's defense at 12.6 in 2012 and in 2015 it is down to -5.5.

Lazy boy got paid, he's sittin' pretty now. He gets his money no matter what. He's also the worst WAR value dollar per win than anyone in baseball.

We all knew those were bad contracts when they signed them. I'm just glad that they stopped signing deals like these at least for the moment.

That's really what the numbers say.  Cano doesn't make errors but he doesn't move his feet either.  I wonder how King Felix feels about watching his second baseman not even attempt a play on balls he may break a sweat on.

And that's what a lot of us realized about him when he was a Yankee and we didn't want him re-signed ... we saw that he was lazy ... and we felt that once he got his money he would be much worse ... and he has proven that to be true.

I'd be happy if they never sign another deal over 3 years.  The insanity of this mediocrity must stop.
