I am not about to give this Yankee Team a Pass. Where is the Pride?

I didn't expect them to give the farm away at the trade deadline to add anybody big. They were in 1st place on July 29th by 7 games. That's a pretty nice lead in a pretty poor division. Toronto made the big moves and they've paid off,  bigt-time for them. I'm ****ed they've played so poorly the 2nd half the year. I didn't expect them to win the division this year, and I doubt anybody else here did either. I did expect them to contend for a wildcard, and that's what they're doing. Still, I'm ****ed they've probably blown the divison because of lousy play. They've beaten Toronto 1 game this year in the their home ballpark. That's ridiculous, and losing 5 of 7 to a last place Cleveland team didn't help either.

The Yankees seem beaten down. Time for a pep talk. Girardi should play this clip in the Yankees Clubhouse before today's game.

That team went out every game knowing they would win. This team could use a little magic!

You're 100% right. They lost 3 games in 24 hours. Sometimes teams have to make their own magic, the starting pitching didn't show up at all. The Jays hit, but after Price I'm not impressed by their pitching. The pitching match ups favor the Yankees in 3 out of the 4 games. They should be ashamed of themselves for losing the series, even more so if they get swept.

The reasons why the Yanks did not go after top pitchers in the off-season are well known: they didn't want to spend the money.

The reasons why they didn't go after any of the top pitchers at the trade deadline are also well known: they didn't want to spend the top prospects in their system, or tear their bullpen in half.

Both of these stands were approved by Hal Steinbrenner in public declarations.

So maybe Hal will fire himself.

But he won't. They are trying to rebuild along lines laid down by the team's owner and managing partner.

The big problem is Hal sees these other teams with low payrolls winning and he feels why can't we ? He is right. But, you need good scouting, good draft  choices and  player development people to achieve.

They are already saying that if the Mets  go far in the playoffs  , especially the WS, The Wilpons  will be saying , "See, we  can have a 100 million team in  NY and win" and Hal is  going to take note of that.

After CC, there will no long term deals to pitchers. Too risky. After Tex and A Rod no long term to any players. This means that if Trout makes it to FA, he ain't going to be a Yankee and neither is Harper.

The actual team that they put on the field to play has overachieved for the season ... that's why so many people are angry now that they are coming down to earth.

More appropriate question - where is the talent?

They are getting their a**es handed to them by a team with talent.

let's  face it . When a team scores  5 runs in the first game and 7 in the second game , that should be enough to win. Blame the pitchers . They are the ones who spit the bit.

Not  faulting Severino. He was due to have a  bad  game? But, Nova and Pineda? At this point  I wish they would get  traded in the off season. But, the  question would be who replaces them ? And we all want CC out of the rotation , so trading either one of these  guys is unlikely  unless Hal caves and  signs Price or Cueto  or they find another diamond in the rough like Eovaldi .

I think we discounted the loss of Texeira when Bird showed up and looked so good, but it isn't easy to replace a guy who some folks thought would get at least a little MVP love this year. We all know that baseball goes in cycles and streaks, but we also know that there are a very few guys who are going to hit more than 30 home runs this year and Tex was well on his way to 40. This lousy play is not 100% due to the loss of one guy but this lineup looks very manageable without him.

I didn't know what it would get the Yankees but I figured they would win 85 games this season. The Yankees not defeating the Jays more at home is like you said ridiculous. Yes, they should have dominated the Indians but also the slumping Orioles too.

not angry , I honestly expected this . It just galls me to hear all the Mets  love  , acting like they are taking back the town.

Agree, these losses were on the pitchers.

I would trade Nova in the off-season ... still think Pineda can get it together.

i'm ****ed hal has been a cheapskate with regards to international free agents over the years.  Give me Abreu or Puig on this team and they'd do wonders
