At the beginning of the season if you told me that the Yankees would have a 7 game lead at the end of July I probably would have laughed. What we are seeing now is much more in line with my excpectations going into the season.

Everybody would have laughed. They're pretty much where I thought they'd be, contending for a wildcard spot. That doesn't stop me from being upset that they've blown the divison though.

Mark my words, we are winning the AL East....

They'll have to play better. The Jays lost Tulo now at least for awhile and Encarnocion looked like he had an issue yesterday. The Yankees are still in it, but not if they keep playing the way they have been.

A team meeting after today's game should be on the agenda!

Before the season, into the start of the season, this Yankee Team was one big Question Mark. And now that we are coming to the close of the regular season, the Question Mark has been answered. Yes there were some great times and great wins, but we have to be honest, this team has been too inconsistent and does not look like a playoff ready team. Yankees did not go all out to fill important spots in the line up, and left the most important positions in baseball, the middle infield without a major league caliber 2nd baseman. They let one of the best in the game go, and did nothing to replace him. Just tried to fill in the hole at 2nd base.

When there were quality pitchers available, the Yankees did not aggressively go after any of them. Bottom line this would never have happen if the Boss was still running the show, when he put his money back on the field of play. And it's time to part ways with Cashman.

I always said, this Yankee Organization has given we Yankee Fans, great Glory Days,  and 27 World Championships, and the best tradition in baseball. So we have lot to be proud of. But I am  not going to give this present team a pass because of the past. These past 3 games against Toronto we looked like a minor league team playing an exhibition game against and All Star Team, and to me that's not acceptable, and should not be acceptable to the Yankee Organization and the Management and the GM and Mgr. I haven't heard anything this entire season, of anyone calling for a close door meeting by, the players, Coaching Staff, the GM, the Mgr., or the Owners. All I have ever heard is Girardi and Cashman at press conference, sugar coating with all these BS Talking Points. Heads need to roll, and someone had to take charge of this team, because they are becoming embarrassing.

When is the last time you ever saw fans from another team, take over Yankee Stadium, and make the Yankees look like a laughing stock in baseball. And to make things worst, they were Canadian Fans.

I agree Tony. The FO could have turned an extra catcher into SOMETHING TO HELP. Combined with some of the irregular prospects, they could seemingly have done something. But it wasn't enough of a headline generator for mini-man... I'm so disgusted I am having trouble keeping it clean. Be back later, maybe I'll watch a couple fixed NFL games...

Oh it sucks for sure. I feel bad for the fans like Qwik that sat through both of those painful games yesterday. They should have handed out prozac at the exit gates. That first game was just awful in more ways than I care to recall. I didn't think Toronto would be in the mix, I was more worried about the Orioles honestly despite losing Cruz. Toronto didn't have the pitching without Stroman. To their credit the went out and got Price, Tulo and a flock of hard throwing relievers and now they are the favorites in the AL. Even if we get into the playoffs via wildcard I don't expect them to beat the Jays, not with Drew playing every day and without Eovaldi. CC is done, Nova and Severino just aren't ready for big games. Hopefully Severino learned a lot the other day because we need him to be a lot better than that if we are going to do anything down the stretch.

Folks it's like this...  us fans here on these forums are the last of a small dying group, The True Fan.  Look at the stadium, it's like a morgue most of the time...  Hell, look at the players... When you let some idiot trot around the bases like he has a parrot on his arm after every home run it shows me that nobody on the field even gives a sh!t.  Yearis ago Encarnacion would have been beaned in the ribs until he stopped his stupid act.  I love my Yankees but the game is going backwards, am I the only who thinks instant replay is garbage?

The tradeable extra catcher is Sanchez, who some team view like Montero, i.e., he's not a catcher.

I don't know that they could've gotten a starter any better than those they already have with him headlining a deal.

The Padres wouldn't trade their closer for for Mateo, plus other, plus major salary relief, and Mateo is a higher ranked prospect.

The pride is there with the players. They try hard its just comes down to playing with less than a full deck. The Owners and GM are to blame. They provide the resources or in this case not. Its not the Manger's fault.

For 2 years he has had to fill out a lineup card and every day its pick your poison at 2B. Its well documented they should never have signed Drew this past off season coming off his disaster year in 2014. Look at where we are still today. Two SS who can't hit a lick are our platoon 2B men. At a cost of over $7 million combined. Now we again go into an offseason with no clue who plays there next year. Refsnyder for different reasons is not the answer and won't be next year either. Its like Ground hog day again. Offseason number 3 and who is on second?

The starting rotation was a question mark coming in in terms of people coming back from injuries plus Nova not being available until June. They swapped Greene for Eovaldi which worked out but never brought in that other needed starter. Instead they sign Capuano who is horrible as he gives limited innings and unlimited runs. We all knew this was going to drain our bullpen by mid year.

The bullpen back end has been superb but shows sign of wearing out as expected. We screwed around with Warren all year. We basically have Miller, Betances and Wilson and warren depending if he is in the bullpen or starting. The front end is horrible. Shreve was good the first half and now is either shot or teams have figured him out. Everyone else plain stinks.People said all we needed to do is keep bringing up fresh arms from AAA. Well not one of them has really shown anything. In fact Mitchell, Cotham, Pindar, etal the last 2 weeks have given games away once we use up our back end.

The FO did nothing at any time this year to try and correct the issues. This team eas in first place and as Cashman said in ST, if they show me they can win I can help them get into the post season. Well being up 7 games IMO showed they could win but no deals? And now we are suppose to belive Cashman that every deal on the table required Severino, Bird or Judge, Not buying it. The trades he could have made to tinker this roster did not have to be blockbusters. Clippard, Reed or a Lowe could have helped this bullpen. Anybody could have helped at 2B except all we get is Ackley.

Going into next season only Bird and Severino are legitimate roster players. Judge is at least a year away as he had a disappointing year IMO at AAA. Low average and difficulty with the breaking pitch. Mateo is 2/3 years away and plays a position where Didi has done a good job and is still young. Sanchez may be ready but we have a glut at catcher? Whatever other outfield prospects we have are gardner/Elsbury clones and not what we really need. Where are the prospects we need to fill the gapping holes?

I am sorry. You can blame the players and Manager all you want but the FO is clueless. Its on them. Maybe the decrease in attendance and fact the Mets are the hot ticket in town will finally wake them up.

Good point Art ... can't believe baseball has gotten to the point where they allow someone to run around the bases after a home run in that fashion ... it was embarrassing.

I'm still puzzled as to why nobody has plunked Encarnacion. And I mean plunked by one of our hard throwers like Mitchell, that's about all that kid is good for right now.
