Have to give the Jays credit.  If we weren't 6-12 vs. them, and had won two or three more agains them, we'd be in first.  But we haven't.....and we're not.  Players just haven't executed.  Gardiner has slipped, so have A-Rod and Headley.  Wwith a couple of exceptions, our starters have disappointed and not gone deep enough into games.  Too many pitches, too soon, too often.  I still think that in the future we will need to diversify the offense a little, get more speed, get on base more and play some small ball when we need to.  It's important to be able to win in a variety of ways, not just slugging, because we all know that, as a rule, good pitching beats good hitting.    nc

I won't give the Jays Credit more than I will slam the Yanks (just showing no sportsmanship on my end, but i don't care), but the rest I agree.

Gardner/Ellsbury have to take more heat because they're not stealing bases.  Additionally, they're not getting on base as much.  Part of it I blame on the right field porch at YS making these guys pull-happy and prior hitting coaches who emphasized to hit towards the porch.  It ruined everyone's offensive versatility.  Also, Cashman is obsessed with left handed hitters who can't hit.  We need more righties and guys who can do the little things such as hitting against the shift, bunting, sac flies, moving the runners, stealing bases.  We don't do that.

Also, our guys aren't able to hit super fast fastballs, breaking balls, knuckleballs, or things except for mistake 90mph fastballs.  That has to change... get a revolutionary pitching machine that can throw breaking balls, but somewhere it's gone wrong with the offense.

It's not easy to hold a score when your offense doesn't score.

They got beaten by a better team with more talent, plain and simple.
