Well so far the Rangers are in first place with 6 wins, but I am not too excited in the way this Ranger Team is playing. Except for maybe 2 of those 6 games, I have not seen the Ranger Hockey that we have been use to the last 2 seasons under AV and this coaching staff. The speed game, the puck control game, and the tight defense. There have been quite a few games that teams have been beating us at our own game, and we have played toooooooooo many minutes trying to get the puck out of our own zone and have not played a full 60 min. game. That said, this team is better then that, and they can only improve on this, and they will.

I thing in goal the Rangers have proved that we have picked up a solid back up for Lundqvist and should guiet down the fans that were upset that we got rid of Talbot. Who is not doing that great with the Oilers so far this season. And as far as the trade with DuClair for Yandle, I am not about to go crazy because Duke had a hat trick in one game. We needed a Yandle in our line up more then we needed a DuClair, and Yandle is starting to play his game, and show why we went out to get this guy. We have the youth and wings on this team that we needed. I would like to see more out of Etem, and, I would like to see McLIrath get more ice time. I have seen enough of Boyle so far this season. I really like the way Etem, when he is on the ice, goes right to the net. He needs time to learn and play this system, he has the speed and hands along with size to make it with this team. He needs to take this opportunity with Stallberg hurt, to make it hard for AV to take him out of the line up.

It's good to have guys like Etem and McLIrath looking over the shoulders of the guys on the ice. Good situation for the coaching staff to see who wants it more. It's great to see hockey back, to me it's still the best game there is. As far as the 3 on 3 OT, I  hate it. Like I said before this is a team sport, not a skills competition to be won by individuals.

They should go back to a full 20 min sudden death OT. If no one scores, both teams get a point, game ends in a tie, and if someone scores, that team gets 2 pts, and the losing team get zero, no points. Why should a team that loses a game get rewarded with a point. That's stupid, All said and done, LETS GO RANGERS.

Kreider and Nash have 2 goals combined and we're 7-2-2.. I'll take that. They can and will play better

I agree stripes. Right nw Rangers are in sole possession of 1st place after beating (all day) OV and the Caps 5 to 2, and still have not, played their best hockey. Thats fine with me. Looking Good,

First place and the Rangers are improving with every game. The goalies are coming up big when NY plays sloppy. Best GAA in the league. They can find the twine. Maybe not as readily as the Canadiens or Stars but with Uncle Lundqvist and Aannti Raanta minding the store they don't have to. I'm not so nervous now that Talbot is gone.

It's strange that Nash and Krieder are so silent offensively. Especially Nash who is getting shots off but they're not getting by the goalie. The D man Klein has as many goals as both power forwards combined. They'll eventually come around. Snipers like Crosby, Vorachek and Gaborik are all suffering from the same goal shortage affliction.

Girardi looks like Girardi after a slow start. I like that he's charging the net. They have 4 lines that can score. They have D men that can score. This team is for real!

Yeah, just like the shootout, 3 on 3 is weird. The NHL keeps moving the goal lines, literally. I don't like it. It's still the best team sport out there so stop screwing with it.

Gotta love the LGR chants on the road. I even hear the fans bellowing Zuuuuuuucs. Man, that has got to suck for the home teams.

Righ on quiz, good post. Great talking Hockey and the NY Rangers with you and the Ranger Fans. Time for lauren to get off her butt and start posting. LOL.Wink

What a big time win over the tough St. Louis Blues at MSG the other night. Many have said this once again, is a good test for this Ranger Team. Well they passed that in flying colors. I am really happy with the fact that this Ranger Team is playing real tough on home ice. This is something we have been looking for. Teams have to know that when they come into MSG, they will have a fight on their hands. All four lines seem to be getting it together and playing Ranger Hockey. There are still guys like JT and Kreider who have to pick up their game, and I think it's smart of AV, to have an extra D man, and a extra forward, looking over everyone's shoulder. You want to continue to be in the lineup, earn it on the ice, or you will be replaced. I just wish McILrath would get more ice time, but with Boyles contract and experience, it's going to be tough for AV to bench Boyle, but I think he has shown Boyle that he will do it, if he has too. Same goes for the 4th liners with Etem in the wings, who is starting to really pick up his game. He is young and hungry.

I don't get it Tony. The coolest game on Earth, a winning team and only 4 fans come down here.

The Rangers are first in the league in GA and third in GF. 8 wins in a row. Points in the last 12.

Tight game yesterday. Anderson kept the Senators in it until the last shot. Lundqvist, as usual, coming up big to keep the game tied. I'll admit the Rangers were making me nervous especially when it went into OT.

3 on 3 is just too damn awkward. Too much open ice. Both sides look apprehensive. Kreider's speed saved the day when he stripped the puck away on that odd man rush. Both sides hitting the pipe.

Then the SO and Ottawa scores on the first shot. Henrik used to be the King of the SO but not lately. The wind was taken out of my sails until Grandpa Boyle blew one by Anderson for the win.

NY can take sole possession of first in the league with a win tonight against the Leafs.

Can't agree with you more quiz. But when it comes to Hockey and the NY Rangers on the USA, there is no in between. You are either a fanatic like you and I, or you could care less about hockey. I knew from your very first post to me you are one of those fanatics. To me hockey is the greatest sport there is and true Ranger fans like you and I are the greatest fans in all of sports.

9 in a row thanks to Zuuuuuucs amazing instinct to rush the net and bury McDonagh's rebound with less than a minute in regulation.

This is what great teams do. Grind and find a way to win. Their last two games were too close for comfort but they were relentless and manufactured wins.

You gotta love the Zuuuucs chants wherever they play. When the Rangers first got him I'm thinking he seemed a little small being an inch taller than Fleury and an inch shorter than St. Louis but he's fearless and plays as large as anyone on the ice.

I know you remember the GAG line. Brassard, Nash and Zucs remind me of that 45 year old chemistry. If this keeps up we'll have to call them the 2GAG line.

Cant wait for Thursday and numero 10!

Zuc is the best player on the NY Rangers so far, and has been amazing to watch. Becoming a real leader on this team.

Pretty interesting stats in the Post By LB.
Brooks said in today's Post how he was going to write an article on how the Rangers with Stoll and the improvement of Brassard, on face offs have help the Rangers overall stats. But then he decided to check the stats first.
The NY Rangers are 26th overall in faceoff efficiency, which represents a mere baby step up from last season's 28th overall ranking.
Stoll who has been great and is ranked eight in the league of 100 ranked qualifiers with a 58.3 percent, and Brassard ranked 18th with a 54.8 combined with the reliable Moor (51.3) percent. has been taken down on face offs ranking in the NHL because of the terrible percents of Stepan and Hayes. Stepan who is ranked 97th with a 42.6 percent, and an embarrassing 34.7 percent for Kevin Hayes.
Now Hayes came up as a winger, but Step is our number 2 center on this team, and he really needs to pick it up. And maybe Hayes needs to be put back on wing and make Moore or Stoll your number 3 and 4 center ice man?
We all know how important winning faceoffs is. I know the Rangers are playing great hockey as a team and are winning, but how much better would they be with 2 more guys on face offs with an above 50%.
Something for AV and this coaching staff to look into. Which I am sure they know these stats.
I knew Steph and Hayes were not that great on face offs, but I did not realize they were that bad.

Agreed, Zucs does lead by example and is the fans favorite. Our dimunitive forward skates hard and is a truly gifted player with amazing hockey sense. He has heart, he's relentless and fearless.  I remember him going after Chara who has him by 80 pounds and 14"! Zuccs wasn't phased or the least bit intimidated by the biggest man in hockey. He's also a smart skater. You can't hit him because his legs are always moving.

I found this page of stats. The Rangers are 1.8% better this year than last at FO's which is a lot when you consider there is only a 6 point spread between the best and worst teams. I'd like to see them climb above 50%. You're right on about them needing a couple of players picking it up in that dept. FO's are vital to a winning team especially when it comes to killing penalties.

Their other weakness is scoring on the PP. They are better this year than last by the same 1.8% so they are moving in the right direction.
