NY Rangers 2016-2017 Season

Well it's a new season coming up for 2016-2017 season, but that's all I can think of hockey and the NY Rangers. Right now I am watching my NY Yankees, and just finished watching the NY Knicks, and my NY Giants Draft picks, but number 1 was the Rangers Draft picks. Unfortunate the Rangers gave away their first round picks in this years draft. But I am very happy with their first pick in the draft #81 in the 3rd round. Sean Day. 6'4" 220 lb Defenseman. This kid has great potential and was rated much higher then that pick. I think the Rangers really got lucky and stole this pick. And lets not forget that young Russian kid this season.

Rangers need clear some cap space and make a big time signing this season. Could they be thinking about Stamkos?

They have to sign the likes of Kreider and Miller for sure. Hayes could be used for trade bait, but I wouldn't give up on him yet. There are a lot of options the new GM has to think about. It should be a very interesting off season, after July 1.

Lets keep the hockey talk going till the season starts.

Here is some info on the Ranger draft picks. I notice they went for some real size in the draft with some picks.

I think that Giradi was playing injured. What else can explain his defensive decline?

Father time caught up to him and there is no going back.

As of now, the new GM has not done much to improve this team over last season. I think a lot of that has to do with the cap and he may be handcuffed some because of it. There is no doubt in my mind he has to do everything he can to sign Kreider, JT Miller and  Hayes. For years Ranger fans have been screaming to build the Rangers with Youth, instead of going after top Vet players that are on their way out, just to win it now. I am one Ranger Fan that does not want to see the Rangers get rid of Nash. I know he has not lived up to his potential, but for some reason, I blame AV for not using him the way a top player that you went out to get to put in those big goals. He had a great reg. season with 42 goals a couple of years ago, and 40 goal scorers in the NHL today, are not easy to come by anymore. But my problem the way AV is using him, is not as a game breaking player, and has used him more as a penalty killer. Give me a break please AV. He should be your go to guy, on the top line and the top Power Play guy. Give him more ice time, let him know he is the guy we are depending on to get those game breaking goals. If you remember his first season, he would get those big goals and he was like a beast on the ice. Then AV starts playing around with his linemates, changing them after he has chemistry with Zuc and Brass. Let him know he is your guy and you are counting on him. Let him play his offensive game, and let him control the ice. AV, IMO is not giving him the confidence and the ice time to show what he has shown before he came here with the CBJ. Give him the ice time, and make him your top guy, stop playing around with him, like he is just a guy on one of your lines. How many times have I watched the Rangers the past 2 season, when they need a big time goal in a game or in the playoffs, and are on the power play, and Nash is not on the first unit. Too many times, if you ask me.

Well that's my vent today on the Rangers and Nash.

Lets see what this team is like at the start of training camp which will be here before you know it. Drop the Puck Baby, I am having hockey withdrawal. LGR

Rangers going to look a lot like the teams that elicited the chants of "1940--1940"  Deviles stealing the offseason signings news....MUCH improved already so far.

Well JoeG, just for the record, how far did your Devils go on the playoffs last season? Oh Shet so sorry, They didn't even make the playoffs. So how did they do on the golf course when the other two teams in the tri state area were in the playoffs,
Now go back to the Devils thread and get your F ing Shine Box, LMAO

What's the latest on Nash? Doesn't he have a no trade clause?

My latest thought is to keep him. The Nash, Brassard, Zucc line was deadly when AV wasn't shaking it up. When Nash was out Zuccs and Brass' stats fell. Nash can skate, pass, defend and shoot.

The last thing I heard on Nash was that Gordon said, he would not trade Nash unless he got equal value. And so far any interest from any teams, was not even close to make a trade to Nash.

The media is knocking the lack of trades by the Rangers. Is it possible there were a lot more injuries than advertised and they will keep the team together?
