Here's  what I'm not getting...why would the school's hierarchy invite a guess speaker loaded with controversy to give a commencement address to a historically black Bethune-Cookman University? It's their day and their commencement, why not make it pleasant rather controversal?

The tenor of a commencement speaker invited should garner respectibility from the greater body of the graduates. If students and their parents are paying tuition to support that university, they ought to have input in regards to invited speakers. You're asking for trouble to invite De Vos.  At best graduates should just restrain from applauding/acknowledgement to voice their disdain. Silence speaks volumes...booing just add fuel to the fire.

One would hope that students graduating from college would have learned to be tolerant of different points of view ... but not in today's world ... in today's world there is no tolerance.

Tolerance is as tolerance goes...that being said, would you invited the leader of KKK to be a speaker for an historically Black University and expect them to be happy as a clam? Why look for trouble?  Graduation is a memorable accomplishment a milestone, why make it an unpleasant event?  I have issues with the university hierachy for creating an unnecessary problem.

True, that's not what graduation is all about. What's funny is the most intolerant Cons are the ones who are doing the complaining that people are protesting them. Violent protesters are wrong, there's no defending that. But people who make controversial comments or have controversial policies should expect students to protest.

I don't think I'm an intolerant person.

No one is protesting you either.

lol! Perhaps I could have made it clearer that I meant the people giving the speeches, like Ann Coulter who even had to bad mouth 9/11 widows.

Yikes ... that's horrible.

Hahaha, to funny. He publicly mocked Obama for bowing, warned his staff about bowing and then curtsied!

Like Obama, Trumpet is a tall man so he has to bend to get his fat head low enough but there was a definite courtsy there. Either that or he broke wind. Either way, thanks for the comic relief, Mr. President.

Trump praised Philippines' Duterte for 'unbelievable job' on drugs: report

Since he took office last year, Duterte has encouraged the extrajudicial killings of thousands of citizens accused of dealing or using drugs. He also compared his campaign to kill criminals to the Holocaust.

"Hitler massacred 3 million Jews. Now, there are 3 million drug addicts [in the Philippines] ... I'd be happy to slaughter them," he said in September.

De Vos is a person of low moral character who does not

believe in liberty and justice for all.

Plus this is a reminder that it is the school's choice, not the

parent's, who gets accepted into the school.

John Kerry Trashes Donald Trump In Powerful Commencement Speech
“There is nothing normal about this moment ... And in the end, there’s nothing American about it either.”

It’s not normal to see a president of the United States decrying “so-called judges.” It’s not normal for the leader of the country that invented the first amendment to routinely degrade and even threaten journalists. And no it’s not normal to see the head of the FBI fired summarily because he was investigating connections between Russia and the presidential campaign of the very man who fired him. And it’s not normal that when you close your eyes and you listen to the news, too often the political back-and-forth in America, sounds too much like it does in the kinds of countries that the State Department warns Americans not to travel to.

The hacking spree that upended the presidential election wasn’t limited to Democratic National Committee memos and Clinton-aide emails posted on websites. The hacker also privately sent Democratic voter-turnout analyses to a Republican political operative in Florida named Aaron Nevins.
