Old George wouldn't roll over in his grave, he'd roll half way and stay face down.

As with rooting interest, there will always be front running fans.  Just enjoy the game, you can't concern yourself with that.

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

When The Yankees are good you see more Yankees fans, when the Mets are good you see more Mets fans when they both are good you see more of a natural rivalry. People are to sentimental to the past, my sister was saying the other day how much she missed Pettitte and Posada, We can remember the greats from the past but we really should move on now we have, Judge, Bird,  Severino, and Sanchez! that is our future, that is now.  I think from a statistical standpoint there are way more Yankees fans in NY and more Yankees fans in the world.

different parts of the tri-state area ..have their favorite fan bases ...i think NY has always been a traditional National league city ...given history with Dodgers & Giants ...they had the " blue collar" fans...the Yanks had the " upper class " fan base ..that was the perception.

I would argue that if NYC was a NL city, then both the Dodgers and Giants wouldn't have moved.

Max ..the Dodgers moved to LA because O'malley wanted to build a park on the site where Barclays ctr is now and he wanted to own the land ..the city turned him down ..Robert Moses who was  THEE builder at time wanted to move Dodgers to Queens where Mets are now...as for the Giants their owner Horace Stoneham was broke ..and O'malley needed another Team from MLB to move west ..and so it goes ...it always comes down to $$$ .

I know Baron, I watched a documentary about it. The Stadium in Brooklyn was also supposed to be a domed stadium. But as you pointed out the Dodgers were offered a new stadium and they still left, while the Yankees weren't broke and weren't complaining about attendance. This Citifield vs Yankee Stadium and The Mets have more fans than the Yankees crap happens every year. It's just an example of Met fan inferiority complex.
