He still looked pretty good, going into the 7th on a low pitch count.  I missed the early solo HR but the 3 run dinger was a big time hanger; it happens to everyone.  Unfortunately, it should have been a 2 out solo shot.  Oh well.  I still think it's a promising outing.

I thought he pitched a very good game. Just made a mistake at a bad time. He was constantly ahead of the hitters

Considering his last season, and considering how the rotation started off, he pitched a great game. Just on length alone.

He's showing promise this season of becoming what was expected. That's very good. If he can go out and give them 7 IP/3 ER ball, he's done very well IMO. And that should be enough to win 15 or so games this year.

If Pineda can keep up his improvement, and CC is pitching well, if they can get Tanaka back up and running, this team could very well make folks' heads turn this season. Something I thought would take much longer in the rebuild.

That's a lot of if's... I would like to see them add another starter.

Eovaldi is out at least until mid 2018, and I dont' think he will ever be part of the rotation again with the Yankees.

TBH, the rotation is looking very good atm. If Tanaka comes back to form, it's likely one of the better ones.

I think service time ends for Eovaldi before he returns

Evoaldi was non-tendered arbitration and dropped off the 40 man roster to become a free agent. They didn't want to carry him on the 40 man roster and spend an estimated 7 mil in arbitration for him to not play. It would have meant dropping a young kid instead. He became a free agent and signed with Tampa.

Eovaldi could go on to win the Cy Young in 2019 but non-tendering him when he was facing aTJS would still be the right decision every time.  They did offer him a 2 year rehab and then pitch in 2018 contract didn't they.  Either Tampa agreed to pay him more or he simply preferred Tampa.

Tampa gave him a 1 year ML deal with a team option for next year for 2 mil per. The Yankees were only willing to offer him a minor league deal. They saved an estimated 7-7.5 mil (per MLB traderumors) in arbitration. I can't blame him for taking their deal. He has next year to prove to teams he can pitch coming off rehab then he can hit free agency.
