We're fortunate that Nuny's flaws showed up when the Yankees needed it most...even when he was a Yankee, there was never any question as to whether he could hit or not, Nuñez' problems were always his shaky fielding, clumsy footwork, as well as non-savvy baserunning. That attempt to take 3rd base on a routine fly to left, challenging the great arm of Hicks, was the bonehead play of the night for the Sox...it cost them a game which Chapman was about to give to them...yet again. So on behalf of Yankee fans everywhere...I want to thank Nuny for the Yankees' great victory tonight...Tomorrow we'll take the 2nd game of this series, with Sevy on the mound...GO YANKEES!

He also had two shaky defensive outs. Almost dropped two balls. Almost felt like he was trying to give the yanks something

For tonight I like to thanks the Mets for trading Reed to the Red Sox.  Watching him implode as Mets traded players to our competitors was comforting....Laughing

Always proud to be a Yankee fan.

There's a reason he's E-Nunez.

The strong-armed Hicks, who returned Thursday from a lengthy stay on the disabled list, made a one-hop throw to third base that was about 6 feet to the fair side of the base. Frazier made a backhand catch and swiped Nunez on the back as the former Yankee slid headfirst and reached for the base with his left arm.

"If it happened again tomorrow, I would take the chance tomorrow again," said Nunez, a former Yankee acquired by Boston from San Francisco last month. "That's how you play the game. That was a great throw. That was a great pick from Frazier and an amazing tag."

Eddie, honey, the throw was way offline. Next time, you get thrown out by 6 feet.

He has to prop himself up to make it look like it was a good baseball play. That was a horrible play.

Nunez did not make a "bad play" last night. He tried to get to third so he could score on an out. That is the conventional wisdom. The fact that everyone is talking about the fine play of Hicks and even Frazier to get the out tells you that Nunez made a good decision. In this case, Nunez made the right decision but the Yankees made the great play. It happens.

That is my take also. I thought it was good aggressive baserunning.

Can you imagine the crap that would be posted about Gardner today if he had been on 2nd and did not advance in a similar situation ?

Noonie on the bases and in the field has always been an adventure.
I think Chapie owes him a steak dinner!
