Not likely, as I think he would have been re signed, but they rallied around him admitting his mistake in game 2.

Prior to Game 3, Yankees manager Joe Girardi held a team meeting and addressed his players in regard to his poor Game 2, saying, "I screwed up." He told his team he believed in them and just to win one game at a time.

Win or lose Girardi  wasn't  going anywhere . He took this team much  further  than  anyone  expected including  all the baseball  experts. Sure he had a lousy day in game  2 but one  bad day at the office  doesn't  define a career .

We can't go with the mindset that we're just happy to be here. The pennant is ripe for the taking.

Exactly, he had a bad day at the office for game two, but now, all is forgotten and now it's time to focus on the ALCS. All the Yankees players respect Joe and rallied behind him. I am really happy for him and hope he get the cheers he deserved when the Yankees come back home.

Seriously tippy, go to bed. You are the biggest Debbie downer on this entire board.

I think the Yankees did indeed save his Yankee tenure as manager. He lucked out.

Joe Girardi was never really in danger of his losing his job.

For one thing, Hal is not  *LIKE* his father. Second, Cashman is a very reasonable man.

The only times I could see Girardi losing his job would be if

A) There was a series  or pattern of managerial negligence throughout the season. Guess what? There wasn't any. I am not talking about failed risks I am talking negligence.

B) If he Girardi lost the clubhouse/players.

None of that....NONE OF THAT, happened.

Like I said, Cashman is reasonable and fair. I am quite certain that he would not recommend to Hal to let Girardi go.

They saved his ass..  maybe he wouldn't have been fired but he still had to carry the burden of game 2....
Girardi will get a huge cheer at the stadium when they bring it home.
