This Yankees team is better than the Dodgers, that I will say with confidence.

no it's not. that's a joke. not close.

Not close?  Now that is a joke. Yankees would not have lost a game 7 at home against the Astros.

I totally agree there. The Yankees were so dominant at home, that if they could've managed to win just 1 of the 4 games at Houston, they would've gone to the WS instead of Houston, and since they would've felt more at home playing in Dodger Stadium, instead of inside the unfamilar dome where the Astros played, I think they could've beaten the Dodgers in the World Series. Oh well, it's water under the bridge now. The biggest concern now is, who will manage the team in 2018 and how could they improve the team in areas they need improvement in (like winning on the road) next season. I think at this point, with the surprise 2018 season the Yankees had, anything less than a World Series appearance (and actually WINNING IT ALL, since I just pointed out why I believe they are better than the Dodgers, the best team in the NL) would be seen as a failure in 2018.

Yanks can't win on the Road.. no way to win World Series until they figure that out.

Astros won 2 games in LA. against a team that prior was UNdefeated at home in the post-season.

Yanks NEVER could have pulled that off.

Really, better to lose in ALCS. Getting swept on the big stage of the World Series is scarring.

makes players dread coming back. This was better for their growth long term.

Astros were unbelievably clutch. 4 Runs in only two extra Innings in Game 2.

Came out and put up 2 Runs in the 1st Inning of a Road Game 7. That's clutch.

Yanks did not put up a SINGLE RUN in 9 Innings of a Road Game 7. That's not clutch.

can't win it all without being clutch. everything grows and ripens. let's not expect too much too soon

You are making too much of this.  The Astros won the Championship by eaking it out in the maximum number of games.  They won last night because they got out of the gate early against a shaken pitcher then their offense disappeared but it was enough.  Now just prep for next year and try to grab home field with more young talent and hopefully less regular season injuries.

Nobody knows what would have happened had the umpire called a good game. It is very possible the Asstros would have won regardless. It is also highly speculative to say that the Dodgers would have lost to the Yankees as they did to Houston, had the Yankees been their WS opponent.

Home team advantage, whether the pitcher is shaken, psychological factors, etc. seem to play a big role for all the teams.   When they score early, the players get psyched and keep going. When something goes wrong, they get down and it affects the rest of the game and the final results.  Pitchers have good days when they are on a roll or else  they get worse and worse pending what has happened earlier in their inning on the mound.  These kinds of factors appear to make a big difference in the outcome.  Seems to me the management might invest in training for the players to overcome these mental aspects of play.  There are people who specialize in teaching this sort of thing.  Olympic athletes often invest in such services.  These teams spend so much money on everything else, why not this.

I'm not taking anything away from our Yankee team, but the difference I see between the Yankees and the Dodgers/Astros is they win on the road, we seem to have a huge home field advantage, but in order to win a big seven game series you have to win on the road, this is something the Yankees had a bad record in all season long... I blame the poor road record on is playing for the home run, I can remember many a road game when we just didn't advance runners with less than two outs where a sac fly would have won a game, and for every game you win on the road it seems are like bigger wins than at home.. Hopefully the new manager will try and figure out how to squeeze a few more runs out on the road, maybe playing a little small ball, hit and run, any way that will get runners to third base with less than two out, those are the secrets to winning a game here and a game there, and that's the secret to more road wins...

I think losing on the road has more to do with the lack of experience this team (as a whole) had in playoff situations

This was a great ride and learning experience for this team and I'm sure they will carry it over into next season. Hell a lot of these guys were in AAA not too long ago playing in front of 6-7,000 fans and for not much. Compare that to the pressure of the WC/ALDS and ALCS and 40,000 fans.
