The "Modern Era" ballot for the Hall of Fame, announced Mon., has Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Marvin Miller, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons, Luis Tiant and Alan Trammell on it. Voting results to be announced Dec. 10.

I think Morris, Murphy, John and Trammell deserve consideration. If not for his back Mattingly would have been first ballot.

Based on that list....just THAT  list, Mattingly should be a Hall of Famer. Jack Morris is a no-brainer, but Mattingly's career is better than all the other hitters...and I've watched them all play.

Morris deserves serious consideration. As a matter of fact imo he should have been voted in by the sportswriters
