MVP means exactly what it stands for. The Astros still win without Altuve. The Yankees don't get to the playoffs without Judge and Cashman does not make the trades he did in July without Judge.

But, you're comparing apples and oranges (i.e., the value of two players to their respective teams). Of course Judge is more valuable to the Yankees, but that is because the Yankees as a team were not as good as the Astros. But, that doesn't make him a more valuable player. To make a more direct comparison, I think you have to compare their value on the same team. If you put Altuve on the Yankees, would his performance have made a bigger (more valuable) impact than Judges'? I think the answer to that question is "yes".

You got it wrong.  Take Judge away from the Yanks, and take the midget away from the astros, and see what happens.

It's actually pretty simple, but people love to screw up free lunches sometimes...

I agree; it is simple. The award is for the Most Valuable Player in the American League, not the Most Valuable Player on the Yankees (or Astros or other single team).

Judge was the Yankees' MVP. Altuve rightfully will be the American League MVP.

As Yankee fans we both want Judge to win, but if we are being objective, he shouldn't win.

No doubt Altuve should win the MVP, and no doubt he was the best player in the AL this year.. He could play on my team anytime.. It just amazes me how he plays the game at such a small size... Hard to imagine anyone that swings from the heels so hard and still has that much contact.. The bad is teams are going to be watching him for a long while..

Steroids do wonders, he won't last.

I'd like to see Judge win, because aside from being a Yankee he seems like a great kid. Altuve acts like a punk. But at the end of the day, winning or losing doesn't diminish the fact that Judge had a Great season.

Judge is 6'7 and built ... it's no wonder he can hit a ball 450 feet ... Altuve is a question mark.

I just think it's so unfair to question these guys with no proof or no evidence of suspicion . Stanton is also a big guy, Butista  is a pretty big guy and I've seen them questioned.

Bautista has shown some serious anger issues. I think his demeanor may lend itself to questions. Personally, until I hear evidence, or see a guy's head and body grow dramatically (Bonds, Sosa, Ortiz) I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

NW, as usual you are such a jerk. I have previously posted here that when I post from my kindle browser, it sometimes posts twice , because you can not edit a post on a kindle.

Judge has much better numbers than Altuve- but Altuve helped win a World Series. Tough vote for anyone but Judge is one of a very few likable Yankees in a while. Altuve gets love for being the underdog midget Ewok that he is so it could go wither way. Yankee haters will be voting Altuve for sure.
