I certainly understand that many Yankee fans here are upset that Cashman dumped Girardi. I always said I was ambivilent about Girardi but I think who he replaces him with is going to be important. With that being said Cashman has done a great job in putting the current roster together  and imo, that's far more important then letting Girardi go. I've always thought Cash was very underrated as a GM and was frequently hamstrung buy guys like Levine. I'll trust Cashman to do the right thing for the Yankees

Agree!

I think Cashman didn't like how Girardi over used and under used players.

For me, the jury is out on Cashman ... I think firing Girardi was a dumb move ... but I'm waiting to see who he replaces him with ... and I'm even waiting to see the results of the replacement ... if the replacement doesn't bring us to the World Series next year then Cashman failed.

I agree with you, generally, new, although I'm not sure they will do any better just because of a new skipper.

Ray, you're wrong (again!).  If Cashman had an issue with how Girardi over-used or under-used players, even you would have to agree that it wouldn't have taken him ten years to make this decision.  nc

Hey NC! Yea I'm not convinced they will do any better  with a new manager either. My hope is that they win the division

Girardi was one game away from going to the World Series and he was fired.  There has to be lots more to this story because on its face it makes no sense at all.

Girardi had a great run with the Yankees. Ten years is a very long time for a manager to stay in one place, especially in New York. He has no complaints, but I do think Cashman was a little less than candid with him. The man clearly thought he was returning. That seems to indicate that Cashman never communicated his priorities to Girardi. Maybe Cashman isn't such a good communicator either.

Trust in Cashman... look what he's built already and is still building (3rd overall farm system by BA, 1st by MLB)
