The Yankees like the just retired Carlos Beltran as a potential managerial candidate, according to an official with knowledge of the situation. Yankees' GM Brian Cashman has always been a big fan of Beltran's on and off the field. It will be up to... http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-40009251-4

Might as well put all the names in a hat and pick one for manager. Makes as much sense as picking a guy who has never coached a single game.

If the next manager wins the he'll be a hero. . The next Joe Torre. If he loses, then he better get out of Dodge!

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to finding a new manager for what could be a ten-year dynasty for the greatest sports franchise in all of sports.

So far, I think Cashman is smoking crack.  Eric Wedge?

Well, here's the way I see it. Girardi's gone. With the profile the Yankees are looking for as a replacement, young, relationship with young players, sabermatrics, ability to handle NY media, relationship with Cashman and possibly a relationship with the organization but not neccessarily a coach. It also looks as though managerial experience is not required, I think it will be hard for any of us to evaluate whatever choice they make because we will have no history to base it on. While I wasn't Girardi's biggest booster, I'm still surprised they let him go but it's going to take a long time before we know if it was a mistake or not. For right now I'll just trust Cashman will make the right decision
