ESPN Is Buying Yes Network!

"Pitaro also will be able to leverage the regional networks, including the Yankees’ YES Network, that Disney is set to acquire in the $52.4 billion deal with Fox. ESPN is doubling down on its core business of showcasing live games with the Fox deal, but, though these telecasts are local as compared to ESPN’s more national focus, they do arrive with the same inherent long-term risk that ESPN faces."

Boone: You know my mama wanted me to be a Manager.

Judge: My dad wanted me to be a baseball player.

Boone: Well you're better than any player I ever had. And you're the best God damn player I ever saw. Suit up.

"Q: Will my local Fox sports channel be re-branded ESPN?

A: Bet on it. There exist few companies more brand-conscious than ESPN, with the possible exception of parent Disney. So the chances are slim and none the RSNs will continue under their current monikers. Some networks don't even have the Fox brand in their title. Expect ESPN to slap the four letters on every property.

Look for YES Network in New York to become “ESPN New York,” Prime Ticket in Southern California to become “ESPN Los Angeles,” Fox Sports Carolinas to become “ESPN Carolinas” and so on down the line.

Here's a quick chart that will bring you up to speed on the various RSNs and their rights deals."

I don't think they'll change the YES name, because the Yankees name has tradition built into it...the same way they haven't changed the name of Yankee Stadium to "Whatever bank ballpark".

The game broadcast the other day was a big hit.  Maybe with some new management we can see more spring training and minor league game broadcasts.

The stadium is owned by NYC not ESPN.

I don't  think Yankees needs to garner those revenues like other clubs by naming ballpark with sponsorship logo.
Yankees stadium will always be Yankees stadium

You are right it sucks.  I hate ESPN.  My interest in being a yankee fan is getting less and less.  I have been a yankee fan since 1946/47.

why? How do you think this will impact Yankee broadcasts? Aside from the games, the station isn't much
