Guys... it's a rumor. The Yanks are not trading for Machado. We have a shortstop and a really good 3rd baseman.

It's all over the NY papers this morning. This one has me shaking my head. I'm not buying this at all.

It doesn't make sense. The Yankees have a top notch SS and appear to have a 3B for the next decade. They also are loaded with RH power bats. Machado is the last thing they need.

I agree. He's not going to move off shortstop either. He's made that pretty clear. There's a better chance the Yankees were scouting their closer Britton. There were rumors floating around about them being interested in him just a couple days ago.

Starting Pitchers this year and in the off season we need need to replace RoBo and Betances I think both are FA. CC will have to retire he already gave his all and then some to the Yanks.

I don't see us seriously making a play for Machado ... they're probably just running up the price.

Pure hype to create a story where there is none. I don't see in any way, shape or form the Yankees being interested in Machado, they have bigger fish to fry such as the rotation and 1st base. Don't see any sense in why they would pursue Machado at the cost of prospects, he is a free agent and they don't need him. This story is pure media driven hype. Trading teams will leak stories to reporters and connect every name to the Yankees to hike the price for as little or as much as they can achieve in talks with other teams.

As reported....

Showalter would not be surprised if Machado is traded to Yankees

It might catch some people off-guard if Manny Machado winds up wearing New York Yankees pinstripes before July's trade deadline, but it wouldn't shock Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter one bit.

One day after it was reported that the Yankees were showing increased interest in acquiring the three-time All-Star shortstop, Machado's manager shared his thoughts with reporters. "No. Nothing surprises me anymore," Showalter replied Tuesday when asked if a Machado trade to the Yankees would surprise him, according to MLB.com's Brittany Ghiroli.

Machado has been linked to a number of teams over the last couple of weeks, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers named as the most serious pursuers of the 26-year-old in a recent report.

However, the Yankees have stepped in and nabbed a player of Machado's caliber in the recent past, trading for reigning NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton this past December when it didn't appear they were in the running.

The Orioles are reportedly seeking a solid return for Machado, who's having a career year but is set for free agency at season's end. Two of the Dodgers' top prospects and outfield prospect Brett Phillips of the Brewers have been mentioned in rumors.
