Before this series started the Orioles were on a pace to win a grand total of 43 games !  That's 43 not 93. And tonight they have Sonny Gray pitching? Yikes. When they're playing that 1 game wildcard playoff game and facing James Paxton to go into the playoffs, we'll look back at this series. Pitiful.

Big, the O's may run away with the whole AL East, in my expert opinion!  If the Yankees can't slow them down, who can?  Sheesh!

Back in the day losing 2 of the first 3 in a 4 game set was not considered a "slump".  For sure Baltimore is a weaker team but they are still major leaguers, we win today and we split a series.  These baseball seasons are like a very long race.  I think I may be in the presence of a young generation here!  You kids need to learn to be patient!

56, it isn't losing a couple of games in and of itself that has some fans very upset. It is overall losing 5 games to a team that our Scranton team probably would not lose 5 games to. The Yanks are far superior to the Orioles. Yankee hitting should be pulverizing the terrible Baltimore pitching, and the O's have been in an offensive funk for a while, until this series.

If the Yankees were losing games to Cleveland, or a decent team, it would be not issue. But when the team ahead of you is bulldozing its way through the bad teams, it leaves little room for error, in particular giving away games to the worst team in baseball.

I've seen great Yankee teams play .500 ball against 2nd division teams, and these were Yankee teams that went on to win it all.  It is frustrating but for a team like the Orioles this is the highlight of their season, our team has higher aspirations!

There's a lot of whiners and crybabies on this board... they sit behind their keyboards foaming at the mouth like rabid dogs... waiting for the 1st sign of trouble. There are also some really good ole posters who understand the ups and down of the season.

I'm glad to see a new face who realizes this is not a video game or fantasy baseball.

Exactly,  1956!  Great Yankee teams have struggled with Tampa, Oakland, and Seattle teams that sucked.  I'm not going to panic.  There is a long way to go to this season.  Teams, just like individual players, go through cold streaks as well as hot streaks.  Have faith in the Yankees!

I remember those simpler times too. 8 team leagues, no wild cards or layered playoffs. This is a different game now, and this year is especially differennt if they lose the division to the Red Sox. That sets up a 1 game playoff to get into the playoffs most likely with the Mariners and against James Paxton. This team can win 105 games and end up going home and not making the playoffs. That's why these regular season games are so important.
