So Wade hits a homerun, and goes 2 for 4, and he is benched.  Boone, your man crush on Walker is really annoying me. Put down that damn Girardi binder and use your eye balls! Enough already.Yell

He does this all the time ... someone has a good game and they are immediately benched ... it drives  me batty.

The only reason I can think of for playing Walker is they are going to have to make a decision when Gleyber comes back. So they may want to give him a few more chances to see if he is somebody who can help them off the bench. Walker offers no real defensive value even though he plays several positions although none of them particularly well. And he offers them nothing on the bases. His value if he has any is as a left handed hitter. Tyler Wade has speed and can play second, short and third as well as the outfield. Way more speed and versatility than Walker will give them.If Wade can hit even decently I think this one is a no brainer. Tyler Wade belongs on this team over Neil Walker. He brings a lot more to the table and on a 25 man roster you need bench players who can do a lot of things.

I agree with you ... I still find it terribly upsetting to see Wade benched after the great game he had last night ... how is anyone going to get on a roll without consistent playing time.

This is why we see inconsistency  on offense at times. Any momentum a player builds up, is immediately slowed to play someone who needs some reason to get exposure. Baloney. Sitting a guy who just had the game of his young major league career for a .180 hitter, has no valid excuse. Especially against a first place team!

Well Wade is batting well below 180 ... but he did just have a great game and might be getting hot ... play the hot hand and see how it pans out.

Me too! It's the one thing that really bothers me!

That and the line-ups he puts out sometimes ... I don't know what he's thinking sometimes.

I was just explaining why Boone might have did it but since as you said he does this all the time that may not be the reason. For some reason they show a lot of love to Neil Walker. And every year there is at least one player who gets chance after chance no matter how many times they have failed. It seems there is always a player who no matter how poorly he does gets a tremendously long rope. In 2015 it was Drew. In 2016 it was Swarzak. Last year it was Cilippard and Carter. And this season it is Walker. Walker seems to have more lives than a cat. You would think unless he has a huge weekend he is not long for this team. He has to be holding on to his roster spot by a thread. My guess is he will be gone by August 1 but with the Yankees you never know. They seem to like him for some reason.  I know he had a good resume prior to this season but he has not done the job and we have better options and are not talking big money here so it shouldn't be very difficult to cut ties with him.
