Boone is having difficulties ... he has difficulties when it comes to realizing when to take a pitcher out of the game, whether it be the starter or a reliever ... that said, the team still needs its players to win ...

Judge on DL

Sanchez on DL

CC Sabathia on DL

Chapman playing with knee tendonitis

Stanton playing with sore hamstring

Have to also mention Torres coming off the DL and having a hard time picking it back up from where he was.

These are a lot of reasons why the Yankees are having difficulties with winning ... this team did look as if it would make the post-season and achieve in the post-season ... however, with all these injuries you have to deal with the reality that post-season aspirations may be up in the air ... we just don't know which side the ball will come down on.  Still time for people to get better ... still plenty of baseball left to be played.

Whatever happens, we are still Yankee fans ... and we should be thrilled to have watched such a great season of baseball ... keep rooting for the pinstripes ... things may turn out well for us still.

I agree, Mo. And I take Yankee losses too seriously. I don't hate this team, I just feel frustrated with all the injuries as to what "might've been" this season. I guess in the long run it only makes me appreciate how perfect things have to go in order to become a great team in the history books. All that being said, like you just said, there's still plenty of time and anything can happen. GO YANKEES!!!

Stanton's got one foot on the DL. All we need now is for Andujar and Didi to go DL, then it's "Adios, amigos, see you next year!"

All that and we still would be in first place in the 5 other divisions. We really are an amazing team!!! Smile

Great post Mo. The Yankees will only get better when Judge and Sanchez return. I guess it's also safe to say that the Nats knew what they were doing when they released Cole.

At some point this season I will like the Yankees to promote Sheffield. Sheffield's breaking pitches and his delivery reminds me of John Candelaria in his prime but with a better fastball. Candelaria was a very good pitcher in his prime, but Sheffield should strikeout way more hitters than the Candelaria ever did.

They won't call up Sheffield unless they have to. He is a major trade chip for us. If he comes up and gets blowed up by a mediocre team it'll take some of his shine off. Too risky.

As far as injuries go, yes we've been hit pretty bad by them this year but every team has to go through it.

The bigger concern is the way the team is losing. At a 10k foot view everything looks fine with the overall record and 2nd best record in baseball stuff. However, if you look at it on a day to day level there is a lot to be concerned about.

The record since mid June has been awful - that's a long time. The way so many of our players are blowing up is concerning. Bullpen - blowing up. Sevy - blowing up. Gray - trash. Bird - trash. Sanchez - not good. The team as a whole is feast or famine and that's how they've been all year.

The Yanks dont have that killer that you always count on to be better than their opponent. Closest thing we have to that is Chapman until the past few weeks. Judge and Stanton are great but they have major wholes and I would take a Sale, Verlander, Bauer against them in a matchup. Nobody on our staff is that guy. Severino could very well wind up being our David Price than our Sale. If that's the case we need to find that true killer ace. In 09 we had CC and Mo we could always count on.

We are in good shape overall and will make the WC but let's not act like this is some special season. This team is majorly flawed and looking at the staffs on CLE, BOS and HOU is scary.

Ups and downs ronnie. Who's to say we won't be full strength and playing great come seasons end? If we are healthy I like our chances vs. anybody. We'll see. Just remember to count me among the ones who didn't give up on them.

^ definitely not giving up. I agree with you. Anything can happen in October. I'm just saying the lack of consistancy and the major holes in the team is concerning. I've been watching all the games for 20 years. Sometimes you can just tell when a team has it together or they dont. This is definitely one of those dont have it together years. They're too unpredictable. They are an uber talented lineup in a top heavy league with a bunch of awful teams. They play down to their opponents level and cant stay consistent.

They'll be fine in the end but the team definitely needs tweaks. I think those who said "fans are just gonna have to realize this team isn't as great as we thought they were going to be going into the season" are right.

20 years huh? My son was born 22 years ago when I was 43!! LOL  I didn't mean to imply you were giving up on them ronnie. I just seem to have a little more faith in this team than a lot of posters on the board. Keep your chin up man. We'll get there. Smile
