I still think he's kind of a white whale for Cashman and Cash will be on the hunt for him.   Andujar has proven his bat, they might move him to 1b.

We are "the right team", will we come up with the $$?

He wants the Yankees and the Yankees want him.

Dodgers pending free agent Manny Machado has made it known he prefers shortstop, but the former Baltimore third baseman would return to the hot corner “for the right team,” Jon Heyman of Fancred writes. A willingness to play third certainly won’t hurt Machado on the open market, where he’s expected to sign one of the richest contracts ever, as it could encourage more teams to get involved in the bidding. Machado prefers to sign with the Yankees, Heyman relays, which jibes with a previous report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today. The Yankees already have an excellent shortstop in Didi Gregorius and a big-hitting rookie third basemen in Miguel Andujar, but their presences didn’t prevent the team from pursuing Machado at this year’s non-waiver trade deadline. Gregorius is only under contract for another year, moreover, while Machado is a much better defender at third than Andujar. Speculatively, if the Yankees sign Machado and extend Gregorius, perhaps they’d move Andujar to first base (where they haven’t gotten much production this year) or use him as trade bait to acquire pitching.

Too bad he can't bat left-handed. We don't need another right-handed bat.

Yanks will get Corbin for sure.

Then Harper or Machado.

Machado with the Dodgers is far more representative of the offensive player Machado is and is in line with his lifetime numbers. I think Andujar will clearly prove the better hitter between the two.

Machado/ Andujar feels like Ellsbury /Gardner all over again

If the Yankees want another bat then Harper makes more sense than Machado.  All Machado will do is tick off Andujar if he takes his spot and Harper fits cause they NEED to let go off Gardner. He is in his option year, and hostely I love the guy, but now, no thanks. No thanks to upsetting our flow with Machado who will most likely start btishing as soon as he doesn't get his way about something.  I lived through the Bronx Zoo once, and though it was sure fun, I don't think I could take another at my age.

No Money wasted on Manny or Harper this off-season. We need front-line pitching! Pitching is still 90% of the game! We have enough talent for trades, use the money for front-line starter.

I think if he's back in the AL East, plays 1/2 of his games in NYS, and has the likes of Judge, Stanton, Kraken, etc to protect him in the lineup - that Manny would be killing it with the bat.  .300 with 40 homers a year kind of bat work.

Plus I just have too many memories of Nettles and even Brosius coming up with tremendous, clutch D in the play-offs, and Andujar will never be able to do that at 3b.   Machado can.   I love Andujar's bat, and I'm not convinced Bird will stick, I would look at moving him to 1b.

The one worry I have with Manny is if the leg issues he had when he was really young were to ever recur, but he seems like he's past that.    I don't think he's made of glass like Ellsbury, and he's still very young.   Both he and Harper are younger than Judge.

This is just fantasy we fans create in our heads, which rarely ever comes to fruition. Let's see, what's a good example of other such fantasies...Oh, ok, how about this one from before this season started: Wow we just got Giancarlo Stanton, who hit 59 HRs this last season. Add him to Aaron Judge, who hit 52, and we should be seeing them become the next M&M boys, competing to hit 60 or more! How well did that work out? This is why people need to think logically. We don't need anymore home run hitters on this team. We need two more ace starters to go along with Severino.
