Hey guys, I just signed up. I was on RAB until they shut down postings.

Anyway, I just want to say how much of a mistake it was to acquire Stanton. 10 years and, what, $300  million of this guy will be a disaster.

If they had gotten Yelich instead, they would be a tougher lineup. He also has the better contract.

Or maybe signed JD Martinez instead of letting the Socks get him.

Blame Derek Jeter.

Marlins got their get-out-of-jail-free card last year when Stanton went on a homerun barrage and they were able to unload that contract on someone. Stupidly the Yankees did them (Jeter) the favor. The better overall hitter was Yelich but they chose Stanton instead, probably because of the bigger name. Dumb.

Three out of four of the prospects traded for Yelich are currently three of the top four prospects in the Marlins' system.  Any trade for him by the Yankees would have required at least three of Gleyber Torres, Miguel Andujar, Clint Frazier, or Justus Sheffield.  The Stanton trade was a salary dump.  The packages given up for Stanton was nothing like the package given up for Yelich.

I hope we don't spend the next few years just waiting for the Stanton contract to run out. I hope he has the ability to adjust his approach at the plate

He had an off year ... expecting better from him next season ... have to remember it was his first post-season.

Stanton is the new Dave Winfield or Alex Rodriguez.  A nice complimentary player and likely HoF'r.  He can put the team on his back once and a while but he needs the supporting cast.  It's best if he is not expected to be the man too often and is just another cautionary tail about outrageous contracts.  The Yankees seem to do better when they aren't setting the market.

There was plenty of blame to go around.  He's still one of the best and we owe him a lot of money so hopefully he can get hot in a few postseasons during his tenure.  Judge did well and Sanchez, Voit, and Gregorius had a few clutch moments.  Other than that our offense came up small.
