I take it the title of this thread $15 living wage is about minimum wages ?? I get a kick out of the people that say McDonalds couldn't afford to pay their burger flippers $15 per hour, that's BS, all they have to do is add a few pennies on their products, that would make it up in a heart beat.. Then people say, they wouldn't eat at McDonalds because they would be too expensive, what the hell, people are going to eat at McDonalds and every other place just like it, why, because the households today are too damn lazy to go home and cook a meal, that's the make up of 75% of the people in this lazy country.. Again why do you see the minorities are the only ones doing the $hit jobs ?? The hypocrite cons would go crazy if they had to do the work the minorities are doing, Mexicans come to this country to work their a$$'s off and donald wants to call them drug dealers, rapist, murders and anything he can think of.. Stop and smell the roses cons, this country doesn't want to work and most if not all of these illegal aliens as donald calls them do..

Remove the safety net and you will see them get to work.  It would do most Americans good to not know where their food, clothing, or shelter will come from.  Why should it be any surprise that those that came to the decision of leaving all they know and love to a strange land would be more motivated than those that have never been challenged or felt the motivation of fear?

OK then, let's remove the safety nets for the corporate welfare state

and let it work for its money, instead of ripping off the government,

consumers, workers, and small businesses.

you talk about multi billion dollar corporations like Mc Donalds. What about the small 5-20 person companies that utilize young high school or college students?

Here's a thought...do you think technological development should be held to a halt if millions of jobs are eliminated as a result? If that was the case, we would still be living under constraints for societials greater good. It would be putting a halt to scientific research to control population growth as natural order to maintain a critic mass.

Are the low wage employees under paid compared to their bosses, trades workers, secretaries, teachers, etc or just business execuitives and investors?  The compensation of the people at the top usually reflects economies of scale where they make decisions that affect more employees and consumers than ever before and for the investors the high rewards tend to reflect gains from high personal risk.

As the child of a single mother that lost a well paid management job in the Princeton University computer center I say absolutely not.  She is not bitter and you would want your data on foot diameter magnetic tape.  Even Tucker Carlson is behaving like a Luddite.  Standing in the way of progress or make work programs are misallocations of resources.  We don’t need any more buggy whips and could you imagine the smell or the methane affecting global warming if we were still stuck with horses?

$15 living wages? Tell me who could live on $15/hour?  Perhaps minimal wages should have two scales determined by number of people being employed? Different rates for seasonal temporary employment?  Having different rates for part time employment would lead employers to untilize more part timers to avoid paiding higher wages....

Yes, I concur.... the same argument could be used for coal miners.  As development of various source of energy would have impact to their employment.  At times the greater good of maintaining employment for the masses is not the greater good in the long run.

Depends on where you live in the country...or even within a state. A husband & wife each earning $15. hr would gross $62,400. That may not cut it in NYC, but it'd provide a comfortable lifestyle in some Upstate communities.

If you are single, living on $15/hour would not cut it....Minus taxes, rent alone would eat up about 50% of your your salary.  At least in NYC....We residing in the city likely making higher incomes also generate most of the taxes for the State.

That puts you squarely middle class.  The big cities are outliers
