You cannot count on Jordan Montgomery for 2019. Maybe he will take the mound for some work and if he is a quick healer/ diligent rehab patient after the AS break. But it is also possible that the doesn't contribute in 2019. There are a couple of guys who might compete for an end of the rotation spot...Adams, King, Swanson, Loasigia but no one is being blocked by CC.

I don't think anyone in the organization is being blocked by CC, but I do think he could block a FA signing or trade.

In fact, I wouldn't count on any of those guys you list. If they have to use them, they are doing it wrong or have been hit by the worst luck possible. This team is ready to compete now, and they need to add 3 solid starters. 1 top end, at least, and 2 reliable arms that can give you quality starts.

Personally, I think if they are serious, they will work a deal for Kluber or Paxton, sign Corbin and Happ. That leave CC lurking number 6 unless someone gets hurt. Anything less that that, and I can't take them serious about winning a WS this year.

Take a look at Sabathia's numbers and put them alongside those of Paxton...they are pretty similar.
