Some would say Holder was an Obama lackey.

Holder went through the congressional veeting process like Sally Yates to be Deputy Attorney General of the United States .  You cannot say the same thing about Whitaker.  What veeting process has he throughly went through to garner this position?

Like everybody else who works for the DOJ. They just don't take applications.

He said he's a temp hire. Whoever he appoints will have to go through the vetting process.

He can appoint who ever he wants.

So why not promote someone through the ranks as a temporary measure?  Otherwise, why rid Sessions if there is no one veeted through the ranks to replace him?

He can appoint whoever he wants?  Not according to consitutional attorneys...As Kellyanne Conway's husband....

In the normal line of succession an already vetted Rosenstein would be the acting AG, but Trump wanted Whitaker for obvious reasons.

It's not how it works Max. He's the President, he chooes who he wants and is comfortable with just like any other President. There is no line of succesion.  He's had issues with Rosenstein but he has to appoint him?

He has bs issues with Rosenstein. Did you ever read Rosenstein's letter to Mueller? If you did, that means you read where Mueller does have the right to investigate any potential crimes he might come across.

He did promote somebody through the ranks as a temporary measure. He was Sessions Chief of Staff. Lets be real here. Whoever he appoints the Dems aren't going to like. He removed other cabinet members, he can ask Sessions to go. It's his choice.
Well Jonathan Turley and Dershowitz say he can and I actually heard of them..

Lets get real, are telling me no one through the ranks are qualified to take the reigns?

Are you telling me whoever he appoints they wont oppose?

Lindsey Graham.

...add Bob Corker to the list.  He's retiring ...a temporary stint as AG might be doable.

I'd take him but I think they will oppose him to. Trey Gowdy butted heads with him and they would oppose him . Christie to. Anybody who is a conservative they will oppose.

You don't know that. Maybe Christie because of Bridge-gate, but I doubt that they would oppose Gowdy or Graham. It's more likely that Trump wouldn't want Gowdy or Graham.

as reported...

Walter Shaub, who was director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics for four years before resigning in July 2017, said the friendship between Whitaker and Clovis should disqualify Whitaker from supervising the Mueller investigation.

“Whitaker has to recuse himself under DOJ’s regulation requiring recusal if you have a personal or political relationship with someone substantially involved in conduct that is the subject of the investigation or prosecution,” Shaub told Reuters.

“If he has a close personal friendship with someone who is involved in the investigation because of his role in the Trump campaign, then that would present a recusal issue”

I think it will be anyone that kills the investigation. This guy already indicated he would and Rudy for obvious reasons. I agree Trump should be able to appoint whomever he wants but it's also reasonable he gets called out for a guy like Whitaker. I'm fine with Christie or anyone that hasn't shown partiality in the investigation into Trump

Of course you would. You want every living Democrat investigated and Trump to be king where no investigations are allowed. That's one of the reasons you're the boards biggest hypocrite

That would be awesome and Nikki Haley could take his place in the Senate.  Think of what a formidable Presidential candidate that would make her.

Yeah, Lindsey is a real pillar of integrity, ain't he?

"Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is attempting to explain his reversal on a 2017 threat that there would be 'holy hell to pay' if President Donald Trump fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions

Although Sessions got the boot this week, Graham vowed instead to work with Trump 'to find a confirmable, worthy successor.'

When confronted with his previous comments on Thursday, Graham chuckled.

'When was that? What year?' he asked..."
