How about we give him a chance to recuperate and see how he does this year before burning him at the cross ?

I said all along I didn't want to trade him or give up on him but the shoulder problem didn't cause him to gain all that wait and it didn't keep him from running out that dp ball and it didn't keep him from chasing that passed ball and it didn't cause him to lead the league in passed balls

I'm with you New. Sanchez is another one of these guys, all too common nowadays, who doesn't feel the need to hustle or work hard at being the best he can. This is one more reason why I think bringing in a guy like Machado would be a HUGE mistake! The Yankees don't need to add a bad influence to their clubhouse.

Well said newinn ... and I think he will use this as an excuse to come into camp out of shape ... unless the Yankees warn him about doing that.

Well, a shoulder injury would explain some of what went on with him in 2018, certainly.

I'm prepared to see him late for Spring training, but he'd better not be one ounce overweight.  In fact, he'd benefit from losing a few pounds; it would sure help his defense. You don't need bulk and a high body fat percentage to hit for power.  We've already had one Jesus Montero, we don't need another one.  Hank Aaron didn't have one milligram of fat on him and he did OK.

It is extremely difficult to train while recovering from a shoulder injury.  We should be prepared for him to be overweight in early March.  One thing that is encouraging is that he has solicited the help of Pudge Rodriguez which shows me that he is putting in the effort to be better.  Hopefully if he is behind the curve with his weight, he will work throughout spring training to be ready for opening day.

He can eat fewer donuts and more vegetables and fish, and he can ride the stationary bike.  All it takes is self-discipline.
