Forget breaking the bank on Machado or Harper and swoop in to grab Grandal.  I know he had a terrible postseason but he is the second best pitch framer in baseball.  It would cost us a draft pick but we would stay under the luxury tax threshhold.  You start Grandal in a platoon with Sanchez.  Grandal behind the plate against righty starters with Sanchez DHing and against lefty starters bench Grandal and put Sanchez behind the plate.

I would like to see the Yankees move on from CC Bird Clint and Gardner.

If you take these 4 outta the equation the Yankees get better no matter what they add.

Now they gotta hold onto to Gray cuz CC is almost 115 years of age.

Gardner & CC = Bad signing

LL, you're probably right in one sense, but as I among others keep saying: we need a LH slugging playier in the our lineup beyond Didi (once he comes back) and so far not named Bird. We're too RH-lopsided offensively. That's just scandalous, given the configuration of Yankee Stadium.

Grandal could be expected to deliver at least 20 homers with the short porch.

I'd like to see the Yankees pick up the best defensive SS they can find, I'd like them to get one more above average BP arm, trade Gray and Stanton and sign Harper... Keep Andujar at third and use either German or Laizain (sp) as a sixth man or in short outings and wait and see if they can pick up a top 2/3 starter if needed at the trade deadline...

For some reason ity seems like they never intended to bring the uyt wo gets strikeouts, Robertson, back.  So what do they do instead?  Sign a guy who depends largely on ground balls to get outs, Britton, to pitch in high leverage situations in front of an infield that struggles to be even mediocre defensively.

At the risk of being repetitive, the Yankees should sign Hechavarria. Although, since I think I have spelled his name differently every time, maybe that makes it less redundant.

Hamp, I completely agree about the lineup being absurdly right handed. Yet another reason I don't want Machado, but would like to get Harper. That is, IF the years and money are not outlandish.

LL, why would we want Grandal? My understanding is that Sanchez is a very good pitch framer. And then what happens with Romine?

Grandal has decent stats, some good power, but he made almost $8m last year. He'll probably want $10m-$12m per, maybe more, for a number of years. For a platoon player, can't see paying that.

Maybe if the market stays cold for him, he can come much more reasonably.

Even the best catchers are behind the plate about 2/3 of the time.  I would like the Yankees to have a Yogi/Elston type tandem behind the plate.  That would be a real advantage opponents couldn’t match.

The last 2 seasons Romine started great only to fade to an automatic out down the stretch.  After the season he will be a free agent but the quality of catchers available don’t look as good.  Romine can join Gray and Ellsbury as players we can try to move.
