Ideally it would be National E-Verify with reduced border security.  If we can't have that open borders is better than what we have.  Why are we saving, processing, and taking care of people that avoid official border crossings and break our sovereignty?  Then some liberal criticizes how they were treated?  No.  We are better off with no enforcement but National E-Verify is the real solution.

So...E-Verify with border security at ports of entry, essentially to stop the flow of drugs. Other than that, completely open borders. If they can get here they're on their own and are free to develop their own social and economic communities, since local law enforcement is not empowered to enforce federal immigration laws.

If you are not legally eligable to work in the US one of the main issues is tax evasion from your racketeering.  There are laws on the books to be enforced if they are more than tourists.

I think sometimes you just say stuff to spark discussion.

Catch and release is not border enforcement.  It encourages behavior we are attempting to discourage.  It is taking on liability we don't need.

Obviously neither is no enforcement...so stop accusing others of promoting open borders.

Catch and release costs money and liabilty.  We are taking criticism for it.  Just end it and open the borders.  What we are currently doing is beyond ignorant.  If the courts won't allow us to refuse to accept asylum cases outside of official border crossings or embassies then pull out border enforcement away from official crossings.   Instead of our authorities having to search for them let them go to official crossings to search for our authorities.  We are handling this all wrong.

You have complained about, and accused others, of advocating "open borders".

You are now advocating open borders...literally. Quite a 180...

If we are going to secure the border the smartest choice is obviously National E-Verify.  The worst is catch and release.  Our actions are counter productive.

AOC calls irresponsible reckless parents more American than border enforcement.  That is absurd.  Their first act on our soil is breaking our laws and relying on us to save them from their pitiful conditions after throwing themselves in harms way.  That is not a game we should be playing.

Bottom line...you are now advocating literally open borders with only E-Verify as a deterrent to illegal immigration.

Welcome back, NW.

I am the left.

To me the abolish ICE movement is not about us wanting open borders, it is about the warped policy of seperating families at the border and tearing kids out of their parents arms.

What kind of people do that? Azzholes and sociopaths like Trumpet, that's who.

The "warped policy of separating families" is in effect in all 50 states and all 7 U.S. territories when a law enforcement agent comes upon a criminal.  If you are walking down the street and you are recognized by a law enforcement officer to have an active warrant, you are separated from your children, by force if necessary.  This is done for the protection of your children, as they shouldn't be locked up in a jail.

The policy of Border Patrol (not ICE) to separate families has been part of policy for decades.  It wasn't dreamed up by Trump.

The worst form of border protection is catch and release, the second worst is apprehension and deportation, then there is open borders, next physical barriers, finally the best is E-Verify.

E-Verify would slow the movement of illegals by not allowing them to work.  However, it still does nothing to address the illegals who cross the border every day to bring the heroin and meth to our country.  They aren't looking for work; they're already working.

DEA and traditional law enforcement can nab them.
