DJ LeMahieu this years Brandon Drury and another terrible move by the Yankees.
Strike 1 - He's Right Handed Strike 2 - He's a product of playing in Colorado !!! Hold on to your seats folks ....He has a career .673 OPS outside of Coors Field !!!!!! Strike 3 - He's switching leagues so he should see a healthy drop off in his .673 OPS
Rule Of Thumb .....Never Ever Ever sign Colorado Offensive Players !!!!!!!!!!!

We are getting older with every passing day!
Is this some sort of joke meme? Every team is "getting older with every passing day". That is how time works.
Anyway, Lemahieu is 30 years old and signed to a 2 year contract. He's replacing the 33 year old Neil Walker so, no, the team as a unit is not "getting older" as a result of this move. And even if the move did make us older, the Yankees had the third youngest starting lineup in the majors this past season. There are reasons to not like this deal (the fact that we're probably passing on a superstar in Machado for a utility infielder). Age isn't one of them.

Yankees are closing in on a two-year deal with infielder DJ LeMahieu LeMahieu is entering the market at age-30 and has rated well defensively at an important position. There’s reason to believe his bat is better than some metrics show.
~~~~~~~~~
VERY interesting. Really like him...question is how does the IF shape up now?
Sounds like the Yankees are moving away from Machado. It also makes me think that the Yankees have a trade already in place for Andujar.
HE is also a GG defender at 2B Yanks loaded offensively. This guy is as sure handed defensively as they come. Good signing in my opinion.
With regard to Andujar, I honestly thought the exact opposite. Agreed that Machado isn't coming here so that locks in Andujar as the starting 3B. LeMahieu is likely to rotate around the infield as a utility guy.
Torres is/was a natural SS...
Leave Torres alone and let him learn 2B and keep his head clear.
~~~~~~~~~~
I've watched Torres up close for 2 years in AZFL. He's no Didi; not to say he can't improve. He has a cannon arm, but his range is "limited". Actually, I think his best position would be 3B if he was allowed to work there, which is why I always felt Andujar would be dealt before last year. The Stanton / Castro deal changed all that. That said...he needs to stay at 2B to refine his play, but it doesn't look like that'll happen. Outside of Tulo they have no one else to play SS, and they're not gonna sit DJ to play him.

Hopefully to Harper. If they are moving away from Machado and trade Andujar who plays 3rd? LeMahieu is GG 2nd baseman. Torres to SS?

Good signing in my opinion.
He's been at least a part time major leaguer since 2012 and he's posted an above average major league offensive season exactly once in that time frame. That is impressive considering the bulk of his career has come at Coors Field. As you said, the defense is good, but if they were going defense first I probably would have preferred Jose Iglesias who is a much better defender than LeMahieu and could probably have been had for a fraction of the cost.
