What do you think Aaron Hicks is thinking when he reads that ?

I think Hicks realizes he is not a Harper like player.

If I told you that Hicks had WAR of 4.7 last year compared to Harper's 1.3 how surprised would you be ? I was when l looked it up.

I use this site

www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1... Shows him at 3.5

www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5... Hicks as 4.9

Signing Harper you are looking at the potential of his 2015 season...

Hicks best year by far was last year.

If somehow they can make that Ellsbury trade with the Giants it makes sense to sign Harper. You could rotate him or Stanton or heck Judge at the DH with Hicks mainly playing CF.

I took the Harper number from:
www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/har...

The only way the Yankees make the Ellsbury trade is if they take on an equivalent salary...so signing Harper still ups the payroll by $30 M or so. I'd love to have a big left handed bat in the lineup, but the only way to add Harper would be to send Stanton home to California.

I think that is managements thinking but not mine. Stanton could opt out. They could ask him if he wants to go to the Dodgers. I know dicey top ask but Harper is a better fit then Stanton for this team.

Harper is a better fit but Stanton is the guy we got. He is not opting out of that deal unless something radically changes. The best paying years of that deal are its end.
