One bad news after another, Severino...

This is not good...Severino shut down for at least 6 more weeks.

From the report:

At least, according to a person close to the situation, indicated Tuesday night that Cashman is likely to exhaust all of the alternatives unless Keuchel’s already-falling price drops another couple of levels.

Recently, Ken Rosenthal, reporting for Fox Sports, said a team official told him the official is under the impression Keuchel wants a deal worth more than the $17.9-million qualifying offer he rejected from the Astros or a longer-term deal with a lower yearly average annual value.

What happened to Severino? Severino suffered a Grade 2 lat strain, an MRI revealed Tuesday. It happened sometime while he was rehabbing his right rotator cuff inflammation. Severino was diagnosed with the latter injury March 5 and didn’t pitch in any spring training games. The Yankees gave Severino, their face, a four-year, $40-million contract extension in February.

Though the Yankees’ rotation was dealt a substantial blow yesterday with the news that Luis Severino would be shut down entirely for another six weeks, the organization isn’t hitting the panic button and making a sudden push for lingering free-agent Dallas KeuchelSNY’s John Harper reports. New York general manager Brian Cashman would prefer to “exhaust all of the alternatives” before pursuing Keuchel unless the former Cy Young winner’s price tag drops even further.

The Yankees also signed veteran Gio Gonzalez as rotation insurance. Gonzalez has an April 20 opt out in his minor-league contract.

Like I just posted a few days ago, better root for in-house pitching bc the Gambler is gonna sit tight with the hand he was dealt it seems. You find out that Sevy doesn’t return until after allstar break and youre playing footsie with Kuechels agent? Cashman thinks he has the leverage until someone else signs him right from under you and then you’re dumpster diving again Undecided. Gio Gonzalez, great but if you wanna win the division you can’t forfeit games waiting on Gio (or German or Loaisiga or King). Kuechel will eat up some innings and save the super BP while maybe showing a little of his old self from two or three yrs ago. Do not wanna pay him til he’s 40? Tough! You wanna win now, dontcha?

Signing Keuchel is dumpster diving.  The MLB season is rolling along just fine without him, and no one (except a few panic-stricken Yankees fans) is showing the slightest interest in him.  He's the kind of player the Yankees used to make a habit of signing: a few years ago we drooled over him when he was in his prime, and now that he's in decline and he's (surprise, surprise) available and we can't resist because his name still retains some luster, even though his on-field abilities are but a shadow of his glory days years ago.

Yes I feel the same way. I don't have a problem  with his opinions on Gardner  ,Cashman  and Boone, it's just the redundancy

That's the caveat ,  bumper, IF they did sign him and he flamed out these same posters would be killing Cashman.
