How do you Prove the thoughts in someone's head when they were alive, especially in a time when Kate Smith lived?

Wanna drive people away from your Stadium? Keep doing things like this!

How about looking into what your Taining Staff are doing to help cause all of these Injuries?

More Yankee Hypocrisy...

Who are they driving away? 90 year olds? She was the sign of the times. Kate had her run. Time to move on and choose something that represents today's America. "America the Beautiful" by Ray Charles is a perfect fit.  And why not do what the Cubs do in the bottom of the 7th: a baseball song! How about "Centerfield" by John Fogerty?

Those who are offended can root for another team. Kate has past her time. Bring on Ray Charles. I love his rendition of America the Beautiful

Yes put those old folks in a nursing home, and let them rot away, who needs these  senile old farts. Just because they are old World War 2 Vets, do we need to still honor them. If they don't like it get lost.

I am shocked by your reply Lauren , I never expected something like that from you. But knowing you, I would assume, I am reading you wrong.

I don't want a controversal singer to take away the focus of the game. While Kate was the product of her time, I see nothing wrong with choosing someone relatable to the majority of fans.

Old folks?  I love Sinatra, I have a huge collection of his works....Cool it reminds me of the time where my dad spins his LPs.

Incidentally...my mom threw away my dad's record collection in addition to his WWII airforce uniform without asking if anyone wanted them. I kept them boxed in the basement only to discover it's no longer there. I was more than upset....I still have his dog tag...

I respect all those guys that fought in WAR II. Truly a great generation of people that endured the Great Depression and stormed the beaches of Normandy and Iwo Jima.  Heroism is not a good enough word for them. My Dad, Mom, uncles and aunts were a part of that generation. I also loved that they voted for FDR 4 times.  At 90, my Dad  preferred to watch his beloved Dodgers from the comfort of his easy chair.  For me, "America the Beautiful" is as patriotic as any song out there. Kate Smith was a magnificent singer with power voice.  No blame on her for doing what was unfortunately the "norm" in those days. There are other great American singers. Let's turn a page.

Out with the old; in with the new as they say.

The future is progressive, and despite the kicking and screaming, I think it's good the Kate Smith version is history:

It's grossly reminiscent of a time when America was blatantly racist and the only 'gentlemen' were white men. She recorded some pretty offensive content (whether it was satirical or not), and her 'rendition' will always be associated with a morally 'dated' America.

Besides, the song was plain awful anyway. It wasn't pleasant on the ears one bit and after a thousand or so listens, a change was long overdue - just as a matter of musical taste.

Even from a business perspective, it makes sense. Why would the Yankees want to associate themselves with content that could be construed as racist? The name of the game is marketability.

I really don't understand how people are so butt-hurt about this.

If Yankees are firing on all cylinders winning the division, would you mind if Yankees was singing "Sweet Caroline"?

My daughter hates that song! And her name is Caroline!
