Nope, not at all. They aren't playing offensive rap songs during the 7th inning stretch, lol.

By the way, have you even listened to the songs in question? (the ones by Kate Smith)

Sheesh, they're only slightly less racist than Birth of a Nation. And people really feel nostalgia for the "good old days"?

So, what is there in the lyrics of "God Bless America" that remotely resembles racism?  I'll help you out. Here they are:

God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above

From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home

God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above

From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home

From the mountains to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home
God bless America, my home sweet homeWriter/s: IRVING BERLIN

And if you think because a person having once expressed racism makes anything they do after that off limits to human eyes and ears, you must really despise the Clintons and all their works, to say nothing of LBJ's Great Society.  It's OK, if you think that about them.  Most of us Conservatives agree wholeheartedly with you on that.

Rumors have been circulating for decades that Kate Smith wanted to change the lyrics for her version of "God Bless America" to "...home White home..."

do you support the move to replace the current "God Bless America" by Kate Smith with "Stuntin' Like my Daddy" by Lil Wayne?

The only song that should be played during the 7th inning stretch is "Take Me Out To The Ballgame"...

Art's question is do you think rappers who use offensive lyrics during concerts should be banned from, the stadium. Has nothing to do about 7th inning stretch. Has to do with a double standard, while trying to be  politically correct.

Kate Smith isn't banned from going to the stadium...

Oh, I should have been more clear. I wasn't talking about God Bless America when I said "songs in question", I was referring to 'Pickaninny Heaven', and 'That's Why Darkies Were Born'.

I feel like you haven't read my posts, because you keep trying to put words in my mouth that aren't there.

So, the fact that Bill Clinton, according to, shall we say, "close" sources, used the "N" word with regularity and Hilledebeest freely mocked the way Blacks spoke, does not diminish from what you see as their greatness, then?

I don't recall ever mentioning Bill Clinton.

My friend, it's very hard to have a discussion about something when you are so wound up. I'm not meaning to insult you, but the points you're bringing up aren't even related to the topic at hand.

Out with the old; in with the new as they say.

The future is progressive, and despite the kicking and screaming, I think it's good the Kate Smith version is history:

It's grossly reminiscent of a time when America was blatantly racist and the only 'gentlemen' were white men. She recorded some pretty offensive content (whether it was satirical or not), and her 'rendition' will always be associated with a morally 'dated' America.

Besides, the song was plain awful anyway. It wasn't pleasant on the ears one bit and after a thousand or so listens, a change was long overdue - just as a matter of musical taste.

Even from a business perspective, it makes sense. Why would the Yankees want to associate themselves with content that could be construed as racist? The name of the game is marketability.

I really don't understand how people are so butt-hurt about this.

There is a political forum. Post your progressive bull$hit down there.
