I'm glad Cashman didn't give in to trade Gleyber... that would have been heartbreaking.

Nothing lauren. Two prospects with ordinary minor league stats. One 24 years old, one 18.

And Toronto actually coughed up cash for the Mets to "take Stroman off their hands". At least, that is how it virtually appears.

So let me get this straight,  Jays insist on Yankees super star 2B in  trade for Stroman ( that's never going to happen) but is willing to settle on two unproven prospects from Mets?

Something is wrong with this picture.

Guess the Yankees really didn't see much in him. Who does that leave us?

Hope that the Giants come to their senses and realize that chasing a Wild Card is not as good as acquiring young talent and building a strong team that  will be a bone fide contender for years.

...and Bauer is a nut case. I don't believe he can handle himself in pressure under the bright lights.

The Mets have the worst or second worst farm system in the majors. By acquiring Stroman, the Mets now have three or four of the most tradeable starters in a market that is desperate for starters. The Mets will never do it because the Mets never do anything bold, but the Mets could transform their farm system from one of the worst to one of the best by trading DeGrom, Syndergaard, Wheeler, and Stroman for prospects. The Astros and Padres have two of the top five farm systems in baseball, and they would gladly trade a boatload of prospects for either DeGrom or Syndergaard. With this acquisition of Stroman, the Mets have become king makers at this trade deadline.

At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mets only trade Stroman and get lesser prospects than they gave up to get him, because the Mets are gonna Mets.

don't get this at all. the met's #6 & #7 prospects seems very cheap, although that would mean loisiaga and abreu for us. clearly the rumors of the mets wanting torres were just that - rumors. you don't accept a #6 & 7 after supposedly asking for a torres.

it does give me hope that the price on some of the available pitchers isn't that high after all, given that arguably stroman was one of the best pitchers rumored to be available. unfortunately this pitching slump couldn't have come at worse time as it probably drives the prices up for us. but cashman has shown himself to be a very tough and wise trader. we'll know in 54 hrs ...
