I have to wonder if this has anything to do with the rivalry- I have been getting the sense that Henry hates The Yankees more and more, every year.  If that is the case, and The Yanks win tonight, it would be poetic if Boone walks in to the post game press conference, leans an iPad on the microphone with a looping clip of Alex Cora saying "The Yankees can s*ck it", over and over, then walks out without saying a word.

Maybe, with New York, New York, playing in the background.

By the way, it always feels good when The Yankees beat Porcello.

I hate that guy.  Especially after him throwing at arod like he did.  Love or hate Arod, he was still a Yankee, and that poop doesn't flush.

I wonder if Cora is next?

The Blosox have a lot of payroll tied up in pitching, a decimated farm system, and will need to pay to keep key people: "Starter Rick Porcello, first basemen Steve Pearce and Mitch Moreland and utility man Brock Holt are among their free agents this winter, though arbitration raises for Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr. alongside the new contracts for Sale and Bogaerts would place their payroll at well over $200 million before making a move."

Let's hope the Sox are no longer a thorn in our side, for a long time to come.

jd martinez ($23.75 mil) can opt out of his contract after this season as well so that could cost them as well if it goes in that direction.

Right- that has been in the news too.  I think he's crazy if he doesn't opt out.  He's the most productive hitter in the game.

The Yankees broke the Red Sox and I love it. A win tonite would be great.

It would, numerically, eliminate the Blosox from contention for a division title.

yup he'd be nuts not to opt. having yet another great season. and while he can opt the next 2 years as well, his salary actually goes down in 2021 & 22 and he's not getting younger. he's better than either machado or harper though his age & being a DH only are strikes against him. would be thrilled to see him on another team next season.

I dunno. He's 32 with $62M guaranteed over the next 3 years. As you said, eliminate any NL teams from his options. Also, obviously eliminate Red Sox and Yanks. Now he's down to 13 teams as possible suitors. Of those 13 how many can even afford him, no less improve themselves enough by adding him to make it worthwhile? And, as has been pointed out, once he turns his back on the Red Sox that door is closed.

You maybe right about it having something do with the rilvary... being the timing. They couldn’t wait till the end of the season...instead of during the series against The Yanks! Perhaps they’re looking for headlines to draw away the attention of us beating them. All I know is... I’m thoroughly enjoying the drama coming out of Bahston today!

I also hope Dombrowski has helped bury this team for the next 10 years!
