Aaron Boone: Down the Stretch

On Mlb network this morning they played an Aaron Boone interview, I guess it was after the game. When asked what his plans werefor the roster, "down the Stretch" to the playoffs, Boone said he "intends to use everybody on the roster in different capacities as needed."

So I guess it means no special rest situations for any one guy but IMO I thought maybe Torres DJ and Didi would get the most  rest along with Judge. Doesn't look like that's in the plan for now. I am glad he is planning on going all out for HFA.

I bet somehow Stanton will get a day or two but mainly plays everyday. I don't think anyone knows what to expect from him at this point.

Boone has shown us thus far he won't go all out for home field advantage and I don't expect that to change.

So he's lying? I doubt it.  Tell me how he has shown us that he isn't going to go hard after it? Because he had a tough time in Toronto with Sanchez and EE out due to injury and had to play Wade and Romine? He has to know how important that is other wise we face Verlander in Houston twice in a 7 game series.. Let's Get serious here. One thing about Boone he is a baseball guy and he knows how important HFA is. I will admit he babies the bull pen to much in some games and basically gives it away with the 4th string pitchers from nowhere he uses. I see that coming to a stop. I hope. If he doesn't he will be saving the big arms for nothing.

I think Boone is trying to do both ... go after HFA and at the same time rest players and get other players ready for the post-season that are just coming off the DL ... he has a lot going on ... losing EE and Sanchez was quite hard on the team ... the only thing I don't like that Boone is doing is using so many of those AAA pitchers ... not a good idea if you are going after HFA.

Great point about the pen Mo. I just edited my post to include that about Boone. After I did I saw your post. You are on the money! His one weakness is how he uses the pen right now.

I don't see it as a weakness ... I see it as something that he's being told to do by the higher ups ... they are trying to showcase the AAA players we have so they can work deals in the off-season ... so I'm sure Cashman has something to do with Boone using these guys.

Not sure I agree about his use of the pen Mo but the rest of this post is right on.

Well whoever is doing it, it's stupid at this point. Nothing is more important than keeping Verlander in the dugout as many times as possible and Cole also. Facing those guys twice is not good for our longevity in the post season. I have all the faith in the world in the Yankees but that's pushing it. Houston  at home where they have only lost 19 games all season? No thank you.

Also I admit the managers in todays game have a tough job. They have to follow the path given to them because if they don't and what they do is wrong, they put their job on the line. Do it to much and you have no job to go to. I wouldn't take a job today being a boss, and have to listen to a damn computer print out to do it. In any industry let alone one where you are second guessed every day by millions of fans and the media. No wonder at the end of Girardi's last season he looked like Skeletor. Poor guy. Today he looks 20 years younger.

With Severino and Betances coming back Boone has to get them some time, as far as the rest he's giving his other starters I think they need it... Again injuries have taken its toll, especially with EE and Sanchez, both needed to finish the season on a healthy note, now both especially Sanchez are questions marks, EE was a very good clutch hitter, I like him, he's one of the most productive hitters we have... I hope we can get him back before the season ends and he can get some at bats...
