Does anyone know when the set roster is coming out for the Post Season against the Twins and how many are allowed on it? I can't find that info.

I can just see the Yankee front office and Boone sitting in a room trying to put together the best roster they can. Looking at numbers, and availability of IL players that are ready to go and who to take and who not to take. Who is hot and who is not.

I see the analytic Geek Squad with smoke coming out of their computers printing paper after paper to give to General Cashman and Major Boone and the platoon of coaches for the plan of attack as they all give their input. To be a fly on the wall in that room and see what goes on in their minds would be really interesting.

Most of the roster decisions are already made, and elementary. Gardner, Judge, etc. There are a certain few matchups they're mulling over, but it's something like Voit vs EE. They're a little redundant, Voit has gone cold lately, and EE is coming back from an injury. That's a gameday decision to be made whether EE is fully recovered or not. If he is, he could get the nod. If he isn't, Voit gets the job.

Of note, you can only drop a player from the roster during the series in case of injury - and in that case the player misses the rest of that round, plus the subsequent round. So if they put EE on the roster, and he tweaks his oblique, he'd be out until the world series.

They can also change their roster between rounds, so the roster they go with for the Twins could be vastly different from the roster they go with in the LCS

You are welcome to recall my posts when it becomes that i'm proven wrong as long as we judge it on the merits of what we knew to be true at the time it was posted.

Thanks for the info. I  Appreciate it. So I guess you think they are going to leave Ford off against the Twins and it's between EE and Voit? I would make it between EE and Ford even though Ford is a small sample size. Voit is cooked IMO. He is either still hurt or so lost he may never get back  right until ST next Spring. And his floundering is no small sample size. It started  a bit even before the All Star game.

Maybe they will grab Ford for the next round if they take Voit and he still is lost or not 100%. Do you think the infield even has our natural first baseman or is that lined up for DJ with Gio on third and Didi at SS. Here we go again. LOL..Again this is what they HAVE to be discussing in the war room, no?

I always liked Voight but he is playing with a sports hernia that might need surgery in the postseason. Edwin is coming back for another injury and I believe if he is ready to go he will replace Voight.

Does anyone here think the Yanks will add Maybin? He is better than Frazier in the outfield. Hoping that Urshela and Paxton can play.

yes they're in their war room going over reams of analytics etc. so since i think that's where this thread wants to go and since we've played all the games, i'll play ...

the wildcard in all of this, is EE.

catching is easy - sanchez & romine

OF - judge, gardy, stanton, maybin

IF - DJLM, torres, urshela, didi, ford

DH - EE

since i think they're going w 12 pitchers in ALDS, then choose between wade & voit. i like wade's versatility, speed and the fact that he's been hitting. sorry luke ...

pitching - paxton, severino, tanaka, happ, cc, chappy, britton, ottovino, kahnle, green are definites.

to round it out, suspect cessa makes the cut and that leaves one more between loiasiga, heller and tarpley. doubt lyons & gearrin are under consideration. my moneys on heller. if it's 13 pitchers, then loiasiga.

Voit being ice cold and Wade's versatility should make it an easy call.

I'd also take Tarpley over Heller. Tarpley gets lefties out. Heller only pitched very little and wasn't impressive.

I think you are pretty much on it. I also think there will be one surprise. The biggest decision will be Wade, Voit, Ford, EE, and do we use our one of 3 first basemen, or is DJ there. It's still the Didi situation unless Urschela is not 100% then DJ has got 3rd I would imagine. Once again that is where the surprise decision will pop up and someone is going to be disappointed. The next round if it gets that far,  they may change things up. Like I said I would like to be a fly on the wall in that room. I don't think their minds are made up yet, and may not be until it is time to turn in the roster, whenever MLB wants it in.

I think the choice between Voit and Ford also is dependent on the Twins pitching staff. If they are righty heavy, then maybe Ford gets the nod.

the lineups for the AL wild card have to be in tomorrow 10am oakland time so perhaps the yankees have until the morning of the game as well. in any case, they'll make full use of the time with sim games today & tomorrow particularly to see if EE is ready to go w/o playing any real games. think urshela is OK but whether EE can play will cause ripples throught the roster. it's all highly unusual.

tarpley does get lefties out but wretched against righties. heller has only pitched 7 innings in 6 games but has been effective w a 1.23 ERA and 9k's in those 7 innings.
