UPDATE … SLOAN KETTERING

Met with the surgeon today … told me that the tumor is small … that I have to have an open surgery where they cut you open 6 inches … takes a long time to recover … months … so he said we can wait to do the surgery in January, when my husband is retired and home with me … says that the cancer grows very slowly in the kidney and it is safe to wait until January. He does not believe it has spread, but I will be going through tests to make sure … I have to go back on November 2nd to get an MRI with contrast … he said the MRI with contrast is a safe test for the kidneys.

I liked this surgeon a lot … he is very serious and gives you a sense that he is sure of himself.

It's important you have confidence with your surgeon.  You're on the right track to plan ahead.  Sounds very hopeful,  You can be at ease knowing you took the best route going forward.

I'm a little bit worried in waiting for January, but the surgeon wasn't worried in the least ... he said I will need someone to take care of me for quite a while and hubby is the best bet.  Thanks for your encouragement lauren.

As cautious ad doctors are, the news is very encouraging. It is great to hear that you are comfortable with the physician...it countss. You'll stay in our thoughts and prayers !
