I really like him too, but...  I knew this would happen.   Garcia is going to be hyped, Severino will be hyped as the returning Ace, Paxton will be the best lefty in the game, Tanaka one of the best post season pitchers in history.

And Cole will end up on the Angels after the Yanks make a low-ball offer.

geeez, of course they should be hyped. Might boost their trade value. What do you want Cashman to say, they're bums?

I think he's already very highly considered, it's not really boosting his trade value to call him amazing.   I'm very excited about the kid.

But, what can you truly expect from him in 2020 for a team that is in win-now mode?   How will he handle the majors?   How much gas will he have left in the tank by October?   Will he be available at all then or shut down because of an innings limit?

I just don't want to be told we're already amazing and don't need to add someone like Cole.

Yeah, I get it. I'd be very surprised and very disappointed if they don't get a real top of the rotation guy

German's status is up in the air ... we have no idea if he will be back and as good as he looked at times and as good as his record was ... he pitched less the 6 innings per start and had a 4.35 era as a starter. He's only ok ... a 3-5 starter like the rest of them

Montgomery another 3-5 starter when healthy is coming off of TJ surgery and we have absolutely no idea what he will be

On a good team Monty is probably a 5. At best a 4 IMO.

Agree about German he wasn't as good as his won loss record.I think more upside then Monty.

If they acquire  a good starter, there's a distinct  possibility  either or both end up in the bullpen.

There's always a team willing to go all in on top of the rotation guys in the off season, but for some time now the Yankees don't.  Unfortunately,  I think this winter may be more of the same.
