No coach can cure a lack of ability, either physical or mental.  The track record with Sanchez behind the plate is pretty established imo.  He may improve some with exeperience, but turning him into Irod defensively or even into an avg C defensively is not very likely to ever happen imo.  The Yanks are never going to admit that for obvious reasons as it serves no purpose, whether they plan to keep him longterm or deal him.  But it is pretty obvious to the world Sanchez is not a good defensive C outside of his arm strength.

I dunno. Wade Boggs became a Gold Glove 3B, and he had help.

3b is a lot different than C.

Really? Do you know the number of catchers who transition to 3B?

Well...that's one.

Todd Zeile, Alex Avila, Buster Posey, off the top of my head...

Zeile moved to 3B very early in his career. Neither Posey or Avila played 3B at ML level.

Well, the Yanks have a new catching coach -- and they dumped former C Josh Bard (who never played third) -- so the question will be answered in 2020.
