The core of virtually everyone of chl's posts is about keeping Voit and Ford at 1st base. I don't get it. You would think they are Lou Gehrig and Donnie Baseball.

New it's not me demanding they play there, that is why they are on the Yankees man, the only reason. They are not going to take them out of their position for Miggy Andujar. I know what they are ,but if Didi is gone then they are on the bag, why is that so hard for you to believe? Your beating the drum more about me talking about them then I am about them being there.

See, every Yankee has a position in the yearbook. They are listed only as first basemen. If they are not then they won't be here. You see them both going because they want to train a guy who is really deficient at defense at his regular position, but they will teach him how to play first base in ST, then announce Luke and Ford are traded or sent to the minors and he has their jobs? wow. God bless your train of thought.

you post everything with such an authoritative tone and I don't consider you to be much of an authority. I really have tried but I find both your OPINIONS and your tone far too obnoxious to try and exchange thoughts with you. Post away chl but I'm done with you

OK. If the words I use bothers you and the way I write, then I don't blame you. All personality's don't mesh. No sense getting aggravated if the words, I think, and I'm not sure, and maybe, and IMO, and stuff like bother you that it's cool. To be truthful I think you are being influenced by two others on here that you like and have a repore with. SO you do what you gotta do. I understand. It's to bad because your a good person to talk with at times.

Newinn is his own man, always has been ... it won't be too long before more and more people can't take your know-it-all attitude.

Lesson for Mr. Know It All

There are three ... two, to, and too

Two is numerical, everyone knows that

To is when you are talking to someone

Too is when you have had too much of something ... like people are feeling about you.

how about showing me the words "I think, I'm not sure, maybe, IMO." in the highlighted post. As a matter of fact, you hardly ever use those words. You post your Opinions as fact and then sometime at the end of the post you will throw in a "what do you guys think" when I don't believe you give a damn what others think

I'm not a fan of chl, but are you maybe you guys should relax with this mentality a little.  I can't speak for him, but when post its with the unspoken understanding that people realize I'm posting opinions.  I think the idea that you need intentionally focus on softening every post you make to make sure everyone knows you're posting opinions is kind of silly.

First base has traditionally been the position where players with limited defensive skills are hidden.  To say that that has changed in this era is imo without any basis in actual fact outside of anecdotal imo.  Sure there have been and continue to be some pretty good 1bs.  There have also been\are some rather bad ones.  Obviously, if they are so bad that they can't catch a throw or field a grounder they are not going to stay at 1b either, but to claim that there are not the marginal fielders still at 1b is simply not looking hard enough (just look at the defensive stats for what they are worth).  There are a number with almost no range that can barely field a ground ball and make a throw to second if they need to.   And while all positions have their share of less than avg to bad fielders, 1b is still the easiest position to play on the field imo, not requiring arm strength, accuracy, range or reflexes in any great abundance.

Wrt Andujar, a player whose main defensive lapses are with his throwing imo, that problem largely disappears at 1b.  He should in theory imo be able to play 1b adequately.  Whether he ever becomes defensively good enough that you want him out there in the late innings of a close game in the playoffs is another matter of course, but that is besides the point.

Exactly. Obviously, you're not gonna throw a player who's had no experience out there, but with a little practice and work just about any MLB ballplayer should be able to play an adequate 1B.

The same can't be said of other positions; they're not interchangeable. You're not gonna put Voit at any other position and not expect disaster.

chl type posters are never going to change ... they think they know it all ... and they don't see what they say as opinion ... they always talk as if they are stating fact ... they seem to think they are proven baseball analysts when they are nothing more than the rest of us.
