Yeah right....thyroid condition? If that was the case, why keep it under wraps?

Scott Brosius’ son claims Mike Trout is on HGH for a thyroid condition. (From r/baseball) t.co/BEAgDYy9Wg

The therapeutic exemption is an ugly loophole.  I don't believe the best athletes in the world have thyroid conditions unless if they threw off their body chemistry with PEDs and I also don't believe that far more  professional athletes suffer ADHD than the general population but I do believe that Adderall would amplify the attributes that would make any ballplayer better.  If they are going to continue to have a therapeutic exemption it should be public and let the fans decide what they want to believe.

Trout is built like Voit and runs like a gazelle.  The only thing shocking is that it took this long to see someone make the accusation.

I can totally see him doing it but because he is such a respected figure in baseball, people will refuse to believe it and it will take a lot of strong evidence to convince people.

He's been looking more "Clemens hulky" the last couple of seasons. This explains it...yet another user.

Honestly, you need only to look at players who are oft-injured with "weird" injuries.  I'm not talking Greg Bird, who we know has a bad foot.  I'm talking about multiple random injuries in different places, especially places not typically injured from sports related activities.

As far as "taking HGH for a thyroid condition", please let me know which doctor decided that was a good course of action.  I've treated thousands of patients with thyroid problems, not one of them has been taking HGH.

I could not reach the link but that might be because of security settings in my firewall. But I've heard rumors about Trout's exemption for many years. The real question is why such a list should exist. Even if there were a valid application for a PED, the impact of the drug on the performance level of the person using it is valid reason for disqualifying the athlete from competititon.

If a person's medical condition requires them to use a drug that gives them an unfair advantage, that person should not be on the playing field. Any other policy just results in a ton of abuse.

That's a slippery slope.  I wouldn't disqualify an athlete that was taking a drug that could enhance performance IF it was the only effective way of treating his illness.  HGH is far from the only or even most used method of treating a thyroid problem and that immediately raises red flags in my book.  Honestly, we're letting transgender biological males compete in athletics as women and they have a host of natural PEDs that women don't have floating around in their bodies.
